Have any of you ever played Call of Cthulhu 'Dark Corners of the Earth' yet? I realize that this game is easily considered to be jurassic due to its 5 year old age, but I dont play many video games and a friend game me a copy for christmas. I havent stopped playing it since last week and just beat it a couple hours ago. It simply has to be the best themed FPS ever. Oh sure, there are better FPS's out there, but while I am biased towards Lovecraft, I have yet to see a video game that oozes as much theme in my (admittedly narrow) video game experience. Not since playing Alien versus Predator have I been so easily startled and scream like a little girl when something jumps out and grabs me. (Much to the amusement of those who watch my entranced play sessions... ) This game is pure lovecraftian sex. Which is to say, tentacle rape is underrated. But...this game is fucking difficult as all hell. Its games like these that make this old ex video game junkie love to wig out and play this game straight for days. Its nice to see there is something that even my jaded self can enjoy.

It's made by Bethesda? Sign me the fuck up. I'll have to see if any local stores have a copy stashed away somewhere.

It's available cheap on Steam too. It's is wonderful, and difficult. I'm about 1/4 of the way through because the save points are few and far between, and I get creeped out by the game. It's really nice how you can't just shoot your way through stuff, you have to sneak most of the time.

"I'm telling you it's a star!"

Dark Corners of the Earth is brilliant- at first at least. Later it turns into a standard (but pretty good) FPS.
But in general its one of my favourite games just because of the incredible sense of panic and fear it creates during the first quarter.

Bought it, played it, not gonna touch it again. I still have twitchyness about fish-men talking about 'outsiders'.

Those Let's Play videos are neat. Saves me the trouble of playing the games.

I loved it. The only reason I haven't finished it is because I need to hook up my old X-box. I'm not gonna restart it on my 360.

Will it run on a 360? I was hesitant to pick one up if I had to break out my old obox.

It is indeed backwards compatible. I've seen it run fine on a 360. Would have played myself, but my first playthrough was on the original box, and it is genuinely scary.
It's a masterful piece of game design. It's the only game I've played that's actually scared me since the jurassic park game back in the early 90s. And it's SO satisfying to finally beat up fishmen with a crowbar.

Yeah, it runs fine on 360. For me, that's just about not wanting to start over from the beginning.

My friend borrowed it from me to play on his 360- it didn't work. I don't know why. Maybe american and uk xboxes are slightly different in their emulation software.
