Serial defector Lee Andersen was on the Today programme this morning and was the dipstick you'd expect him to be. Nick Robinson pointed out that all his low-IQ-ex-Brexit-Party third rate party had done was reduce the Tory vote while having now impact on Labour.

The importance of Reform is what it will do to the Tory platform by the next election cycle in order to win back Reform voters. They will push the Tory party to the right.

Oh my. Reform are fucking deluded.
Somehow, with their 0 Councils, 0 Councillors, 0 Mayors and 1 turncoat, nobody actually voted him in to represent Reform, MP? “ThEy’Re TeH rEeL oPpOsItIoN tO lAbOuR nAoW”
Get. A. Fucking. Grip.

Jamie Driscoll missed out on the North East mayorship. Shame.

To be fair, they nearly beat Conservatives to 2nd place in Blackpool. If that doesn't count for something then I don't know what does.

Something occurred to me on Wednesday. With the caveat that they are chameleonic opportunists, are the Lib Dems now further left than Labour? Labour's few stated policy positions are basically to continue austerity. I'll be honest, whilst I'm slightly distanced being in Scotland, I couldn't tell you a single Labour or Lib Dem policy at the moment. Given Labour seem unwilling to disagree with anything Tory at the moment I *suspect* you are right.

It seems, maybe only to me, that Labour are following a 'keep stum and let the Tories lose the election by themselves.' A safe strategy, to be sure, if morally craven. All I know at the moment is that they'll keep the 'triple-lock' on pensions, and have followed the Tories by not taking the EU up on less restrictive travel for the 18-30. Neither of which I agree with.
On the other hand, every time they announce a financial policy, the Tories nick it (or a bastardized version of it) and stick in their next budget, so keeping zipped might be prudent. And my prediction is a GE on 28th January, so there is time for another budget.

Given how badly this lot went for the Tories, there’s some chance there lunatics will try to oust Sunak, but fuck knows who they’d replace him with. Frankly I’m not sure the country would stand for a third non-election based change of Prime Minister in 18 months.

True. And anyone with any sense will not want to be forced to resign after losing the next election, so any challenger will be a stalking horse at best. They might not even be guaranteed to keep their seat! Best thing (for them) would be to let Sunak ride it out, lose, f*** off to America (with all the blame) and pick up the pieces afterwards when they know the state of play.

Seems no rebellion quite yet.
Maybe because whilst he is absolutely a bellend, Sunak is not the sum of the country’s discontent. It’s the ongoing lies, corruption, incompetence and viciousness. 14 years they’ve been in power, and things are objectively worse for the majority.

That’s Hamza Yosuaf quit as First Minister of Scotland. John Swinney has now taken over. Can't say I know a lot about him.

End result for the councillors. Tories took a pasting, but the gains were well distributed amongst the other parties.
Notably, the Tories also lost the West Midlands mayorship to Labour. Sadiq Khan defended his London mayorship against the Tories too for a historic 3rd term, with a growth in his majority.
Still quite a lot of Tory police and crime commissioners, but several of those also flipped to Labour.
Overall, it was a good election for Labour, but mainly a truly catastrophic one for the Tories.

Most important result?
Count Binface beat Britain First in the London Mayoral election. More people in London care about Ceefax than far right thuggery. Which is heartening.
