One of the interesting thing I have noticed on Twitter is the way that bot accounts are now functioning. I have about 100 followers or so, mostly mini painting or motorbike related, but I don't really publish much on there and so it's very rare for me to get new followers (usually maybe 1 every few months or so) I suddenly got 5-6 new followers in the space of an hour. All followed about 1000 with about 100 followers. They all looked valid enough but there was something about each of them that didn't look quite right - hard to put my finger on. At a glance there would be no way of knowing that they were not a real person/account. None had anything to do with wargaming minis or anything else I follow, although if it hadn't been for the timing of them all I probably wouldn't have noticed.
I had thought about battle lines being drawn with bot farms ready for the 2024 US election, and wonder if this is part of a 'seeding' effort that will see these (actually quite advanced, and not obvious) bot accounts all jump into action when they are required for some purpose or other.

That seems pretty likely, people will feel a year old account will have more legitimacy than a minute old account, so it's probably an attempt to create a bunch of "users" that look more genuine by following randomish people.

Musk’s personal beef with NPR looks like it could do some real lasting damage to Twitter’s relationship with businesses. Long story short, Musk demanded that NPR start tweeting again or he will give their account to some NPR impersonator to ruin their reputation.

And NPR has been all about reporting on it so everyone knows what is going on.

How long do we think then before he gets bored, or slowly backs out of it?
Or does he like the attention so much that he'll just accept the money loss, and the place will continue on its course towards the gutter?

Or option 3, like the Murdoch family, he uses Twitter to try and push certain politics, which will end up benefiting him in the end, even if Twitter is a money pit. If he can get more in tax cuts and subsidies for the rest of his portfolio, then Twitter doesn't matter.

Capitalism measures competency by the size of your bank account, the internal logic holds. Musk is a genius because he is rich and rich because he is a genius.

Did capitalism never consider inherited wealth? Because at some point some idiot was going to inherit enough for them to never fail.

Trump is evidence that capitalism does not take into account inherited wealth. He is rich, therefore a great businessman and competent to be president, according to almost half the people who show up to vote.

All hail Facebook’s editorial skills around adverts.
Knuckle Dusters and Flick Knives today. Not that you’re allowed to advertise such on Facebook. But fuck you, they’ve got your money already, I guess.

I will say I haven’t seen any ads for tshirts using stolen artwork in awhile at least.

Apparently, just when you thought Twitter couldn’t be any more full of shit?
Tucker “Thicko McLiar” Carlson is going to host his own show on the platform.

Is Tucker even extreme enough for Musk Twitter.

It did seem like a piece-of-shit line-up made in heaven (or hell) but apparently the offer has been withdrawn, with Musk commenting that it won't happen. Once again, it makes you wonder how big those skeletons in Carlson's closet actually are - I still don't think we have heard the full story.
