Wait the OK sign is ruined by them now? How'd they manage that? It started as a "joke" because it looks like "WP" if you squint really hard and draw imaginary lines ( www.adl.org/education/references/hate-symbols/okay-hand-gesture) by 4chan to try and rile up the media (who didn't take the bait), then people started using it "ironically" and then actual racists used it to mean something racist, then neo-nazis picked it up and started using it without any ironic undertones to it. That caused the media to start reporting on it, which has led to mouthbreathers like despic or carlo saying the media is biased and stupid or seeing racist signs everywhere, and saying "well, nazis also drink water, is drinking water racist now?" as a particularly stupid type of defenses that implies they struggle to walk and talk at the same time. It's a less common usage, but it's still ruined as now you'll always be second-guessing someone who's using the ok symbol (below the waist iirc). IDK) among kids, and honestly I think these kinds of playful 'gotcha' games a re a great way to bond with your peers. You quickly identify which of your group are sadistic bullies and which are just mates by how much pleasure they derive from the 'gotcha' vs the 'now I get to hit ya' part of the game. Me and my friends never really socked each other, it was more the glee in catching your friend out in a stupid arbitrary game. What (maybe, IDK) the evil genius behind making it a white power gesture, is the millions of people who are now young adults, who grew up with the game and are not particularly politically engaged or savvy. They hear the "OMG lamestream media is making OK out to be evil!" and that gesture is something you have popsitive feelings tied to. It's another thing to add to the confused/doubt pile and nudges you that much closer to thinking Ben Shapiro might actually have some good ideas. |

It's pretty telling that it's a shotgun blast to conservatives and Republicans, not to America or Americans. Clearly shows the egocentrism of conservative ideology. In the end it's never "we should be careful implementing societal change so we don't make a mistake due to missing knowledge" a la Burke but rather "the current status quo is beneficial to me, I don't want it to change". Always the narrow-minded solipsism, never any capacity to see bigger contexts.

I reckon Duckworth would be the ideal; woman, minority, injured combat veteran with previous experience of government work with a PhD in political science. I will admit that I don't know where she stands on a bunch of stuff though.

Honestly, I don't think Biden's camp has any clue and is being far too cautious.
They should have picked one already, and the fact they haven't hints at either a lack of pressure to do so or an uncertainty which pick will bite Biden least (which isn't really the best way to look at the question). It's also possible Biden's campaign is simply happy to sit back and let Trump and his increasingly manic behavior be the headlines. It gives Trump little ammo to use against Biden and makes his frequent gaffes and vocal shallowness seem like a paltry concern compared to Trump's insanity.

They booked a bunch of stuff for overflow crowds outside, rented a neighboring hall for people. They didn’t even will the main hall. Canceled everything outside due to low attendance. Seems a bunch of anti trump people online trolled them hard by RSVPing with no intention of attending. Supposedly they had like a million RSVPs, and only a few thousand actual people came.
