Well the US isn't the only one hit hard. For exampe, Germany is showing a similar GDP drop in Q2 by over 10%. The big thing to look out for is if the US screwed Q3 over with that reopen BS versus what happens in Q3 in Europe.
Also this is what happens when your social welfare exists of bootstrapping yourself against a pandemic, got to be fiscally conservative though... Thanks Obama

Trump continues to flaunt the idea of delaying the election. I'm sure any minute now all those fanatics and good old boys will be storming the whitehouse to protect our constitution. This is what happens when your only motivation is to piss off people cause you can't say the N-word or yell at gay people in public anymore. The fact these assholes are gonna circle the wagon and declare this a good idea is what's the most sickening part of all this horse shit.

Honestly, at this point I view it as nothing more than self-serving double dealing.
Mike Pence and Senate Republicans would win an election without Trump dragging them down. I'd much rather take the chance that 2020 ruins them than the certainty that freeing them of Trump won't.

As hatoflords says, its nothing more than self interest at this point. They don't honestly believe it, this moment just offers a convenient off ramp for the rats to leave the sinking ship. Most Republicans are now trying to salvage what reputation they think they might have left, but its time for the rats to go down with the ship. The second Trump would win in November, they would all roll over on their backs again and the Federalist Society goes back to supporting him over their precious SC nominations.
