Another thing to chew on... this is going to be the most litigated election probably ever.
Imagine if we get another Gore v Bush scenario and SCOTUS is still at 8 Justices, with a possible 4-4 split.
Would probably be the most 2020 thing ever if that happens. That and a 269-269 electoral college split.

God your such a fucking slug. Cry more please. You show up, make on pithy comment about RGB being a 'titan' and then showcase your utter contempt for decency by rambling on some whataboutism that McConnell's standard for voting in a justice isn't solely based on whether or not he likes the nominee and whether or not he can block them.
This display is so utterly predictable for you and your contempt for integrity. You only ever show up here when you think there's some grand ground you can claim, between your bouts of hiding from scrutiny of people so familiar with your shit they don't mince words in calling you what you are. You slug. Whine some more, then slink off back into your little cave like you always do and pretend that 'cry more' is showing me what for.

You show up, make on pithy comment about RGB being a 'titan' She was a legal titan. And fuck cancer. My own dad succumbed to cancer. I can appreciate the life work of RGB (even though I disagree with her) and still make comments about the realities of her empty seat. Just stating facts ma'am. Simply put? Ya'll fucking deserve it. (well, most of you) I'm going to rub it in so hard I'm going to see bone underneath the shit ya'll gloriously cover yourselves. There's one MAYBE two folks on this board who has sincere desire for debate, and that ain't you. The rest of ya'll argue in such bad faith I don't spend much time here unless I wanna push this "grand ground" as you succinctly stated above. I wanted to grow this board from the beginning, even extended the olive branch on mulitiple of occasions. But the majority of ya'll weren't interested. So, I'll continue making these "grand ground" post every now and again. Ciao.

Though legend does say, a slug can someday recognize itself in a mirror, and grow a spine. Personally, I stopped believing in that wee folk tale a couple years ago, and none of the people who believed it ever showed up here.
Ha! Fuck. Okay, real talk.
You do realize that several people deleted their accounts on this board because of you. I was one of them, and only came back because you stalked off into some cave to hide from anyone who even remotely would call you out on your garbage. Solely because of you and your blatant bad faith shit covered face. There were a dozen or so people who came when political talk moved to this board and half of them bailed because of you.
Seriously. It's amazing how you continue to amaze me in how complete unaware yourare but okay. We all gotta get off on something and I'm happy to insult you every time you show your basic bitch ass around here but wow. I did not think my opinion of you could get yet lower.
Okay King Piccolo. Sorry, you're just so indistinguishable from a cartoon character. Bye Lord Slug. Insult you next time!

Whembly. You've just been caught lying. This is what you argued two years ago: www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/1860/758999.page#10059909Nary a word about any opposition party. You were quite clearly arguing that what mattered was that it be a Presidential election year. I quote: "Is this [2018] a Presidential election year? NO? Oh...so its not the same thing." Care to explain why the "only when it's different parties controlling the Presidency and the Senate" excuse only appears when it is politically expedient for you?

Care to explain why the "only when it's different parties controlling the Presidency and the Senate" excuse only appears when it is politically expedient for you? Why bother?
We all know why; because it's politically expedient. This whole election year argument has never been anything but politically expedient. The rules/argument will be whatever justifies the naked gamesmanship, along with whataboutism about how it's really the Democrats fault (even though the Democrats never made this argument) and crying about how unfairly Brett was treated, because apparently it's crying when we point out what a shitstack the Republican talking points are, but not crying when crying about that time poor baby Brett was questioned about sex assault allegations.
To be fair, I think what he's saying now is what McConnell's original argument was. The argument was obviously bullshit from the start though, so what does it fucking matter? The real reason is "I'm in power and I can stop this nomination" and always has been. The real icing will be at some unspecificed point in the future, when Democrats do the same thing and we can tongue in cheek throw whataboutism out like candy. You know. Assuming the country doesn't degrade into dictatorship but that seems like something no one is really worrying about despite the events of the past decade disturbingly mirroring those in Turkey in the late 80s and early 90s and we all can see how Turkey turned out.
<but that's none of my business meme>
EDIT: And I feel like it's been an oddly quiet morning. McConnell said there would be a vote but never specified when he would hold it and it's still not clear Trump has a nominee to put forward. The GOP was already scrapping the bottom of the barrel for nominees as is. Senators have been mostly quiet like they're all too afraid to speak. It might not be clear how this will play out till Trump actually names someone. EDIT EDIT: Though as I write that Tillis has made a statement that seems kind of purposefully vague about supporting Trump naming a nominee but unclear about whether he'd vote for it.

Please get cancer and die. When your father died, it made the world a better place, and when you die that same will be true. You're a massive hypocrite who's been caught in lie after lie and doesn't care about America, but keeping their party in power. You don't care about literal acts of genocide, sexual, mental, emotional, and physical abuse of children (unless they're white and/or republicans I suppose) and have defended nazis CONSTANTLY.

He learned this behavior somewhere, and just like his father, he's passing his beliefs onto his children, unless his children manage to escape his brainwashing/have enough outside contact/viewpoints they interact with and an ounce of rational thought in their head to challenge his bullshit and think for themselves. The difference between despic jr. and despic sr. is that despic jr been repeatedly called out on it and we know he's had chances to change, but instead has doubled down on everything to avoid admitting his party is dismantling America to make a quick buck.

See what I mean? Why do I want to debate this cretin? I believe that's my line. I've tried the first few hundred pages, but you have never engaged in good faith. Even your most recent post is an example of that. You're trying oh so very hard to backpedal from McConnell's own words and explain why it wasn't OK for Obama in his last year to seat a SCOTUS judge, but it's ok for your glorious orange leader to seat one in his (hopefully) last year. Again, get cancer and die slowly and painfully. You are scum of this earth. You are no different from the actual nazis in your party.

I didn't lie. Read further down the thread. Further down the thread you make a whataboutism about the so called "Biden rule", which the Democrats never actually used and that is in fact unrelated to McConnell's actions. Biden argued that the President should not make an appointment in an election year but who fucking cares? That has jack all to do with what McConnell actually did (or argued), which is refuse to hold hearings or vote on a nominee duly appointed by a sitting president whom he had a constitutional obligation to vet. Never mind that at this point Biden is the one who is behaving consistently by saying Trump shouldn't appoint anyone before the election while McConnell has done a reversal on his own highly publicized arguments twice now. The US Senate had never refused to hold hearings or vote on a nominee outright until McConnell did it in 2016. Justifying not doing so on the basis that past appointments have been voted down by the opposition party is bullshit rhetoric. The last time before Garland a potential appointment was rejected without even getting a hearing was Harriet Miers, whose appointment was criticized by both parties and who asked her nomination to be withdrawn as a result. And Miers was criticized by both parties because she had no judicial experience to justify a SCOTUS appointment and the entire nomination reeked of no small amount of nepotism. EDIT: And I'd comment how amazing it is that in less than a decade, naked nepotism ceased to be a major political disqualifier pretty much solely at the behest of Mitch McConnell overlooking it so long as he got what he wanted? A bit unrelated but still.
Thornberry's seat 1968 was never actually vacated. You have to go all the way back to literally 1874 to find a SCOTUS nominee who couldn't get a hearing or a floor vote, because the Senate hated Caleb Cushing personally and refused to even consider his nomination. Your argument that "The Democrats did it first" is both false and empty political bullshit, with the added irony that you happily complain about 'norms being undone' but have defended at every turn the most norm destroying Congress and White House since the US Civil War and are pulling antifactual summersaults to justify McConnell's norm destroying decisions on SCOTUS appointments. That he didn't even hold hearings means he wasn't confident Garland, a completely qualified jurist, would be rejected so he instead abused his position and broke political norms and made flimsy bullshit arguments to justify it. So yeah, sorry. You lied. You're inability to recognize your own lies is just the reason you're a slug, and makes any claim you make of how we don't engage in good faith completely empty. There isn't a good faith argument to be found from you on this topic. And that said, I'd certainly prefer that others show more spine than you do and not insult people related to you just for being related to you. That is low shit even if you're low shit yourself and this isn't the first time it's happened.
