Yup. I actually doubt Trump will make a run in 2024, regardless of his legal fate.
I don't think Republicans will want him to run again, and we've seen multiple GOFers spend the last 4 years positioning themselves for 2024; Cruz, Cotton, Romney, Baker, Rubio wants to run again I think, and then there's Eric Trump, who might not run in 2024 but I think is likely to take a stab at some point. Not sure what the 2024 Democratic field will be, but I'm skeptical Biden wants to run for a second term? Sanders won't run again and while I expect AOC to stab it someday it won't be in 2024 me thinks. We'll see. Only Mayor Pete seems to be actively positioning himself for a future Presidential run at the moment.

Who doesn't detest Ted Cruz, aka the Zodiac Killer?

Who doesn't detest Ted Cruz, aka the Zodiac Killer? The guy who barely won a senate race in Texas?
He's been a Senator for more than a decade now, I honestly couldn't tell you what his policy positions are outside "I'm a Republican from Texas." Yeah, Cruz isn't going win a presidential race. I think he has a pretty firm reputation as a flip flopper with no real policy beliefs, even among Republicans. He's also positioned himself easily as the worst flavor of post-Trump Republican; the Trumpsian not-Trumper. It's actually the perfect position for him. It exemplifies how much he stands for absolutely nothing but himself.
I think Baker and Cotton are the more direct contenders, Cotton being the exemplar of Tea Party Republican shilling, casual racism, and proud ignorance, and Baker being... Romney 2.0 more or a less, a moderate right of center Republican governor from a Blue state. The entire abortion drama up in MA the past year or so has been all about him trying to position himself to run for president imo, and as a more classical neo-con of the Clinton/Bush era, not a Tea Party spineless git or a Trump shiller. He's popular enough in state that won't really hurt him, and he could freely oppose the legislation without also being responsible for it's failure to pass because the state legislature could easily override his veto. He got the best of all things. He probed his conservative credentials by opposing abortion, his 'American values' credentials by denouncing Trump when Trump was at his Trumpiest, and he can't really be blamed for anything explicitly negative and he's obscure enough nationally that most people haven't cast him in a role like they have Cruz or Romney.
Romney I think wanted to make another stab along that same line, but his support for ACB and impeaching Trump is likely to sink him nationally imo. Both sides have reasons to hate him that outweigh their reasons to like him.
Graham might run, but I think he sunk his own star by tying himself too closely to Trump at the end and will forever be dogged by his unfettered support for Trump's election challenges.

A lot of these older Republicans who hope to have a chance in 2024 will have problems. The campaign ads against them write themselves: all you have to do is show their anti-Trump comments from 2016 alongside their Trump-humping comments from 2020. These older Republicans are potentially going to get trounced by the new generation of young Trumpians and Qanon'ers who have perfect Trumpian credentials.

Go for it. I don't think the entire Republican party every truly cared about Trump. Undying support for him was simply a symptom of Republican tribalism, and we're already seeing it collapse in the wake of the November election as the party splits down the middle. We saw it in November, when traditionally Red suburbs flipped Blue and turned against Trump, but voted for other Republicans in the apparent belief they could have one and not the other. Let them eat themselves. The best case scenario is that Trumpers and not-Trumpers spend so much time punching each other, Democrats can actually get something done. I want the Trumpers to keep being crazy and the moderates to keep trying to reign them in and I want that to death spiral the party.
The Republican party needs to go and get replaced by something less fake and superficial.

Unfortunately, I fear it's going to be like OANN and Breitbart replacing Fox.

I hate to be "that guy" but ACKSHULLY...Hitler hated smoking, and the Nazis were the first government to have a national anti-smoking campaign.

Trumpers are trying to violently force their way into the Capitol. Yeah, they've been overwhelming (as in, too many trumptards to properly manage) the federal police and have apparently torn down some security fencing. Also, Ossoff is up about 17,500 votes right now.

And I'm sure that, at some point in his life, Hitler must have said "pizza/hamburger/steak/etc. tastes good". I guess we're all just a bunch of Hitler apologists.
