Guam has the highest rate of people serving in the military if I recall correctly.

I mean, he does have a point that there's little point to the discussion if you two can't agree on a level of cancelling that constitutes meaningful. Well crap... I guess I should go see what etc is all about then. Baron v. <he who shall not be named> fight. Sounds like they're talking past each other...

Nope, baron was just throwing another hissy fit, like he did here on the same subject.

Nope, baron was just throwing another hissy fit, like he did here on the same subject. Besides his personal strong feelings on cancel culture and/or cyberbullying, I wonder if there’s a fundamental disconnect on how internet debates should unfold. For example, I cut my forum teeth during the Bigatons era of Sci fi debate, so I’d expect all sources to be long and full of hard numbers. When I pointed out you would respond line by line, it was not a complaint but a statement of what I thought should be an obvious expectation; he should look for sources knowing they would be scrutinized. I wonder, if he was you g enough might he have missed out on the that style of debate and expect something less grueling?

I'm not a fan of the line-by-line post dissection myself. It quickly gets too nitpicky and pedantic and disrupts the flow of conversation and discussion. It also often seems to result in "missing the forest for the trees," so to speak. Members get hung up on addressing or finding fault with one or two lines and the overall point (which may or may not still be valid) gets lost. You also end up with members who are so busy dissecting other people's posts, they rarely take the time to explain or clarify what their opinion or thought on the matter is - they just become focused on showing why they think other people are wrong. None of those things is particularly helpful in facilitating productive discussion or exchange of ideas.

I don't know, Baron supposedly has held office AND currently is working some "secret squirrel"-ish job for the government, so I don't think he's that young, assuming they're telling the truth.

That’s right. Well maybe age isn’t an important factor in shaping his expectations.

Did someone destroy the ETC in order to save it?

I got it working again.
I’m not sure if I did anything on my end.
