So Great Big Tree is likely to become a mod due to the vote being split.
No offense to Tyranid Horde, but he got over 10% less than Trot or GBT. That's not exactly a split vote if we go by 'normal elections'. That makes me a bit cynical regarding the reason to pull him into the runoff.

Potentially, but hopefully not. GBT is the worst possible outcome though. He'll actively encourage, defend, and support bigoted positions. It makes you wonder how much of a "reformed" bigot he really is considering he doesn't grasp the harm it does.

It at least seems to speak to a severe lack of empathy.

Yeah that smacks of splitting the vote to help GBT

Yeah that smacks of splitting the vote to help GBT To help my ever worsening case of cynicism, Dread is also only two votes ahead (instead of behind) of the pack, but he got in. So why do two votes make a difference there?

I'm still confused as to why we were limited to voting for 3 candidates in the first place. RiTides made it out to be some huge impossible undertaking to allow everyone to vote for as many candidates as they wanted.

Three candidates makes perfect sense to me, its small enough to quickly reach consensus and given the amount of active users, more than three might mean a quarter of the active users are mods.
He might also be worried that whoever mods might pull back from discussions to maintain a sense of neutrality? So the more we get, the less input is left argument.

I agree, but I also believe the simple rule of "don't moderate what you get invested in" would go a long way, along with using other mods as a touchstone if you think someone has crossed a line. Yes, they'll still need to pull back involvement a bit probably, but I think it's overall just a kneejerk initial reaction.

Well, I'm two out of three candidates so far, and hoping my third (Too Hot) gets in. The runoff really should be in the style of the French elections though, with the top two proceeding to a final runoff.

Maybe this is when I get banned for being mean/rude to RiTides.

Maybe this is when I get banned for being mean/rude to RiTides. Not today. But maybe take a weekend break and destress. Looks like Zardoz is stepping into the ring for a round.

That's not a bad idea, I'm just tired of RiTides the literal owner and admin of the forum acting like their hands are tied and they have no power... and claiming I was calling everyone I disagreed with a nazi.

I get the impression he just skims most threads and therefore has a hazy memory that you called people Nazi a lot.
He also seems too nice (people-positive?) to really moderate threads with such divisive subjects and toxic personalities. He seems so put-upon with how his site is deteriorating that I feel bad for having called him out so much. He really wants to hand the responsibility to others.
Also, it doesn’t hurt to remember that the member he is closest to politically is probably QAR. His gut feeling might be that QAR is talking a lot of sense (when he isn’t bashing trans people).

That would explain why neither QAR nor Grey have been banned while prof tann has been banned.
Not that I disagree with Prof Tann's ban obviously.
