And I'm sure you obey every single one of them on your drive to and from work every day. Irrelevant. The relevance is that you don't get to yammer on about the rule of law when you yourself are breaking more laws on a daily basis than any of those migrants are, you criminal.

Oh, my bad. Not just authoritarian but also eugenicist. How on earth did you get that? You cray. Please stop being cray. You are saying potential citizen need to justify their existence through usefulness to society. Eugenics 101. And by what standard do you claim the US is "dang generous"? Illegal labour is rife in your agriculture, construction, and service industry.

Well yeah, that's why big business and super rich employers don't invest itself in opposing illegal immigration- No wait they totally do.
Well then it's a good thing Americans at large recognize that every job an illegal has is a job an America- No wait illegals work jobs Americans don't want to work because the pay is shit.
Wait. Who the fuck is actually pushing the anti-immigration agenda around here? What do mean it's mostly highly paid white professionals and highly paid blue collar workers who don't compete with Hispanics in the job market?! But that means the only people who care about the subject are people with no real investment in it's outcome and they've spent decades concocting a phony argument about "a nation of laws" as an excuse for what is at best a xenophobic nativist mindset and at worst a bigoted distaste for brown peopl- ooooooooooh.
/kidding //not really ///the entire immigration debate is fucking retarded and based in pipe dream fantasies can we go back to dealing with reality please?

Just ignore Whembly and his cancerous bullshit.
His head is so far his ass he could see facts if you force fed them to him.
He doesn’t give a shit about laws, as he has already admitted. But he will bitch and moan about “we have laws” when it somehow appears to make some of imaginary point for his partisan bullshit. Jim Crow was a nation of laws. Slavery was a nation of laws. South Africa was a nation of laws. Germany had a ton of laws during the 30s and 40s that they were following and enforcing. “We’re a nation of laws” is irrelevant when it comes to him speeding on the road, but it’s relevant when you’re firing teargas and kids and aspiring to be like Israel. For fucks sake, our administration was basically bragging about giving the order to copy Israel and telling our military to use lethal force and kill people who throw a rock at the border.
Stop feeding that walking tumor by engaging it.

Germany has it written into their Constitution, Israel has their 'Law of Return', The US signed both the The 1951 Refugee Convention and it's protocol expansions, as well as a domestic law following the revelations of the St Louis affair during WW2 where the US handed Jews back over to Nazi Germany as well as the refugee crisis of the 1980s.

Does the US (or any other country) have an obligation to anyone who wants to emigrate?
Germany does. Israel does, with certain caveats. Depending on the situation, the US does, both domestically and under treaty.
Every country in the EU does for people emigrating from any other EU country. Free movement of people.

I have asked many “Constitution über Alles” folks if they would turn in their guns if the Constitutional process of amending it is followed and the 2nd is repealed.
You can guess how many of them would suddenly tell this sacred document to fuck off.
They don’t give a shit about rules and laws. They only care that rules and laws secure their perceived station in life.

I thought it was just freedom of movement... like being able to drive/ride train all over EU without being "checked" at the border. (like driving through multiple states in the US).

Not that it granted it. So, if it were to be repealed somehow, you've got a not insignificant armed population who would resist. Civil War Part Duex - The Electric Bugaloo™
