Tories revealing* the Elphicke lobbied the Justice Secretary to interfere in her husband's sexual assault trial is hilariously tanking both Labour (for handwaving it now she's their MP) and the Tories (for sitting on it for four years whilst she was theirs).
First class media work all round.
*or at least claiming, given no evidence has been provided.

I especially like how she wants to get rid of rainbow lanyards because:
I mean, I get that it's pandering to a right wing crowd, but even they must twig you can't really do both.

Sunak claimed to be allowing a 12 week consultation before changing the rules on PIP (disability benefits), and then changed them barely 4 weeks later. I'm still to look into it but the TLDR seems to be making it impossible to claim disability for mental health issues, and the possibility of replacing cash payments with vouchers.
Neither will get anyone back into work, it'll just make life harder for many people struggling and probably cause a spike in the suicide rate.
Can you imagine needing to ask the council to give you vouchers to buy things and have them arbitrarily say no if it sounds like too much of a luxury? Like "My non-verbal kid needs an iPad for this specific communication app" or "can I get £5 to go to the cinema for a mental health break" are never going to get approved, the degradation of the process aside.

Seemingly also trying to shit on the rug of society now their 14 years of redistributing wealth and government contracts to their mates are pretty much over.

8 Tories did vote for the bill, and it passed by 1 vote.

Well yeah, if you exclude all the sex offenders and other various criminals from the Tory benches, that's their majority gone...

Moving this over from the Rest of the World thread so that there's some semblance of order:
In unrelated news, Swedish TV4 has released a series of old-school undercover investigative articles where they can prove that the Sweden Democrats (our resident neo-Nazi parliamentary party that swear they're not Nazis, honestly!) have had people hired on the party's payroll to troll social media, spread lies, and attack other Swedish political parties. TV4 managed to get one of their reporters hired by the Sweden Democrats first at the media company Riks which, while openly friendly to the Sweden Democrats, supposedly wasn't controlled by the party itself, and secondly at the party's own media and communications department. Three party representatives were filmed discussing the possibility of creating fake grassroots accounts targeting Arab-speaking minorities in order to convince them that the Social Democrats were going to take their kids away and that they (the minorities) should use force to stop the Social Democrats before it's too late. Considering Sweden's been the target of a psyop in Arab-speaking social media recently where it's claimed that Swedish social workers kidnap Muslim children and that this led to the murder of two Swedish football fans in Belgium it's some pretty sordid stuff. The immediate question is of course if and to what extent the Sweden Democrats were involved in that social media storm too.
Oh and they've used taxpayer money for this because of course they have.

It is the wrong reason to do so, but I think we should have less people sent to prison.

It is the wrong reason to do so, but I think we should have less people sent to prison. There should definitely be more efforts made to prevent people going to prison, and rehabilitating them to get out of prison earlier, as well as reduced sentences for trivial things. But that should all be done after the arrest stage.

After all the concern about police not tackling shoplifters and assaults on shop staff! If people do something wrong (enough) they should be arrested, it's the magistrate/judge who says what happens next.
