Don't worry, I don't think Twitter will shutdown entirely. Someone will buy it off Musk when he becomes desperate enough, and then rebrand it back and gain billions in value overnight.

I can easily imagine the pissing and moaning from Musk if he does sell it only to see it almost inevitably turn its fortunes around.

I’d bet he’d even try suing for more money, claiming the sale price ripped him off, because clearly now it’s worth waaaay more.

I could also imagine Alphabet going for it, given Google's failed attempts to enter the social media space in the past.

Its a numbers game though, the more users you have, the more attractive you become to advertisers. If Twitter gets absorbed, it's basically Alphabet, Meta and ByteDance online? Feels like pushing towards semi monopolies might be profitable for certain players.

I'm not going back if it becomes part of a big internet megacorpo. I liked that it was independent. Big, but independent.

It will be a shame if it does go. I genuinely enjoyed some of the time I spent on there, for some of the political commentary (if you kept your following list tight) and for leisure pastime/hobby content it was really good. So I resent that someone has come in and, in his unachievable quest to be liked, has turned it into a shit-show. I think really now it just needs someone to hit a big 'reset' button over a lot of the crap that Musk has brought in - just really go back to what they were doing before, and the App and user population will pick up again, advertisers will return etc.

Thinking the other day about his enforced 'code reviews', of pulling staff into meetings until 2am, and going through changes to the program when apparently (to anyone that understands these things as their trade) he doesn't have a clue. There is more than a whiff of the 'Emperor's New Clothes' about it, or mad Caligula and the fawning court sitting about having to nod and smile, while all the time knowing it is all BS. I can't imagine what it would be like working in that sort of insane environment, and the only possibly positive is that presumably there would be less chance of being sentenced to death when the 'Emperor's' humour suddenly changes.

I think Musk's strategy is to try to goad Iger into buying X from him and get himself fired. He thinks Iger is as dumb as he is and can be goaded into such a stupid move.

Fat chance the shareholders are going to move on Iger considering they fired the last guy and replaced him with Iger!

Musks gone very quiet on that MMA fight with the Facebook guy. I think that's how the super rich should settle their disagreements as long as it's televised.
