I know a bunch of Trans kids in my solidly RED rural community. None of them have "surgically removed healthy body parts".
What they do is start dressing like their preferred gender, choose different names that align with their gender, use undergarments to help appear like their preferred gender, and go by different pronouns. In some cases, they go on a hormone based therapy after consulting with therapists and endocrinologists usually for a few years.
All of these steps are considered "Gender-affirming care" and are now targeted as illegal in many states because.... reasons? Maybe some folks need to interact with and connect with more Transgender youth before they spout nonsense and change laws?

Why not just name the account grog2? It'll be so much easier for him to keep track of as Hordini is again (poor bugger) forced to enforce literally the only rule I think this place has Almost named it GreyBigTree. The best thing for transexuals is to stop and be normal, there is no rational reason to surgically remove healthy body parts. You all support the permanent disfigurement of innocent children. I presume you also care this much about the far more common practice of circumcision? Something which has no significant health benefits, unlike gender-affirming care which has been shown to significantly improve the mental health of those receiving it (incl. a reduction in suicides).

Maybe some folks need to interact with and connect with more Transgender youth before they spout nonsense and change laws? The transgender people I know all went through a similar process. I’m not sure if any of them had the surgeries yet, although I lost touch with the middle aged trans person I knew in the early 2000’s as she shed her old life and friends after coming out as a woman (“trapped in a man’s body” as was the more familiar expression back then). Every trans person I know was struggling hard before realizing transition was an option, some attempting suicide even. After finally feeling free to be themselves, they’ve been happier, healthier and more productive. The only reason to deny someone else their sanity is because it feels wrong to you what they’re doing with their body and their pronouns? That’s not your business.

Ah, but it does have a significant benefit in conformity. And that’s what is is all about. (Speaking of, my wife and I decided to let our son decide when and if he gets circumcised…almost certainly after his bar mitzvah by some time.)

I wonder if there is a high correlation between anti-Trans folks and folks who also have a low-opinion of mental health care?
I.e. if Gender Affirming care benefits mental health, that is not a good enough reason because they do not believe in Mental Health care either?
I do not know the answer or where to look for an answer on that one.

I think that is already giving those people too much credit. Generally they believe it's a mental illness, as such affirming care would enable it. At best you would see them support the trans equivalent of gay conversion 'therapy'. Not because they don't believe in mental healthcare, but because they would oppose this even if they did.

republicanpsycho In the miniscule chance you're actually not a grog sock puppet (I certainly wouldn't put money on it), you need to tone it down immediately. The only rule is be a good dude/dudette. If you're not able to adhere to that extremely simple guideline, you're gone. This is your only warning.

bobtheinquisitorThat’s a very antisemetic post. And I would ban it in an instant. It’s also a poor comparison because one is far more extreme; rendering you sterile and other complications for life. @diciple of fate I believe only a tiny fraction are genuinely suffering from some belief that they’re in the wrong body. The rest are a confluence of naive children tricked by media, sexual degenerates who want to be women, and pyschos who want to gain social power. Not mutually exclusive and all some type of mental illness anyway. Remove the promotions, take it out of schools, and it will fade away.

How is that antisemitic? Male circumcision might not be overly risky, but it is never a 100% safe. It's a numbers game for no medically necessary reason. I believe only a tiny fraction are genuinely suffering from some belief that they’re in the wrong body. The rest are a confluence of naive children tricked by media, sexual degenerates who want to be women, and pyschos who want to gain social power. Not mutually exclusive and all some type of mental illness anyway. Remove the promotions, take it out of schools, and it will fade away. Then the million dollar question is, what do you think needs to be done for this tiny fraction genuinely suffering?

Remove it from promotions, take it out of schools, and people who feel like aliens will just go back to killing themselves. Maybe that's what you want?
The number of people who were left handed increased drastically when it became acceptable, but it peaked pretty quickly. People were always left handed before that - my dad is left handed but going to school in the 1960's he was forced to write as if he was right handed and still suffers from it 50 years later.
There's certainly no indication that telling kids it's ok to be gay or transgender is actually turning them gay or transgender, it's just giving those who are an inclination that it's not something that needs to be repressed.
But anyway, why do you care if someone is transgender or gay? The odds of you interacting with them in a manner where it matters is negligable.

bobtheinquisitorThat’s a very antisemetic post. And I would ban it in an instant. It’s also a poor comparison because one is far more extreme; rendering you sterile and other complications for life. [ ] I loled at your first line. And yeah, one is more extreme. The one with fewer risks and complications is more common and requires less extreme need. Makes sense. Transitioning (esp surgery) is something a tiny percentage of the population does compared to circumcision, and generally with a lot more thought and anguish behind the decision than you seem to think. It really isn’t as simple as doctors grabbing kids for surgery while they’re young and confused. It takes years and years of therapy and observation and trying hormones, and even people who want the surgery badly have to wait years. So you DO believe that some people actually feel this way, then? Your quibble is just on which tiny percentage of the population genuinely feel this way? And you think there is a larger number of young people who are just so gullible they’d allow their sex organs to be altered because it’s trendy or something? Can you find a reputable paper that explores the number of people who later claim they were swindled out of their genitals? Because I’ve not seen any evidence that this is affecting a significant number of real people.* *Like more than a handful of people.

who want to gain social power. I am interested in what "Social Power" someone gets from being Transgender? If being PMed “kill yourself” were cash, my niece could buy Twitter. Her group of friends seems to have diminished greatly since she came out, so I’m not sure what other social capital she could be mining.

The whole "Trans people do it for clout" has some real "Jews run the world" vibes to it.

The whole "Trans people do it for clout" has some real "Jews run the world" vibes to it. On that? I feel we do need to be aware that youngsters may just be trying it on for size. Which is why well funded, impartial, experienced and informed counselling is the key. If a given kid is just “doing it for attention” that is suggestive there’s something else in their life which isn’t going right. And so aforementioned counsellors would, in and ideal world, have the training and resources to address those others issues.
