Note how Formosa is currently dancing around his point. As if he’s (understandably) embarrassed by it,

Damn but there's some arseholes playing Warhammer. Fuckers should be glad I'm not in charge. "We don't like retcons? FINE. Custodes are ALL men. And we're ditching the retcon of the big gold power armour, they're now all in their ORIGINAL helmets, hotpants and baby oil. Now, say 'thank you Mr GW', or I'll start exploring EXACTLY why the Emperor only hangs out with dudes in a throne room decked out like a Chippendales show..." A return to original that would make sense. There is the lore rumor that the Emperor wanted to become the fifth Chaos god. What do two out of the four Chaos gods have in common? Oiled-up muscle men. Clearly having them is an important part of being a Chaos god. Even Nurgle is halfway there with his oily men.

Mmm, 'men are so hard-done-by, please leave us our safe all-male spaces' is an interesting take but I'm not sure it cuts the mustard.

At least if GW said they wanted to preserve their hobby as a 'male-space', they would have a point. But GW as the developer and distributor clearly doesn't want this (given their 'controversial woke' pro-inclusion statement a while back), so who are they to decide? Vote with your wallet, see if that makes GW reconsider. Given how GW is doing these last few years, I'm going to guess they won't need to.

It's not like Warhammer is some butch macho alpha-male manly-man thing either. (Pause for a quick chorus of 'I'm a lumberjack and I'm OK'...) It's fucking toy soldiers for fucks sake.

/Painting/ toy soldiers at that. Some people on Dakka seem to be under the impression that they're the local game store's Henry Cavill or something.

Robbie really out there spouting all the fascistic alt-right shit.
Imperium is justified in everything it does, just needs more "Great Men" to help lead it etc.

It is kind of ironic that people claim that this is what humanity needs to do to survive, when the actual height of humanity in 40k was at a supposedly much less repressive and xenophobic time period, when the Eldar were also at their height of power. It's not like humanity didn't survive in other forms of government. We have GW's HH giving clear examples that other surviving forms during the Great Crusade were forcebly annexed or wiped out. The only reason we have the Imperium is because in the lore the Emperor had the power(?) to predict the dissolution of the warp storms and was first out of the gates to rush his human 'opponents'. And technically not even the Emperor seemingly had this version of the Imperium in mind, he was just too hesitant to kill Horus quickly.
Plus, if the warp storms return like they did during the Age of Strife, it's not like the Imperium can fix warp storms either. The Imperium surviving is pure chance, not on any sort of military merit, because all their greatest and/or lost military tech is older than the Imperium.

Plus, if the warp storms return like they did during the Age of Strife, it's not like the Imperium can fix warp storms either. The Imperium surviving is pure chance. If the Imperium fragmented like in the Age of Strife then humanity would end up extinct as the atmosphere of xenophobia, paranoia and militarism would ensure that all of its old worlds would promptly exterminate their neighbours and then turn inwards and destroy themselves. But that's beyond the media literacy and comprehension of the right-wing leeches that attach themselves to geek spaces. Those who apparently cannot even contemplate the concept of analogy, subtext, metaphor etc.

Also, apparently trying something once means it shouldn't be tried again if an outside force breaks it.

Hmmmm, when GW was not suitably competitive Privateer Press steamrolled in to try and gobble up that segment of the market and was fairly successful for a time. That passed as GW updated and stopped letting Privateer Press eat their lunch.
Is now the time for Privateer Press to solve their woes by pivoting from being the "Competitive" side of fantasy/sci-fi wargaming to being the "Male safe-space" place for wargaming. After all, play like you got a pair!

Looks like BrookM is getting getting ready to crack, based on that post in Nuts and Bolts. Can't really blame them,

I've actually been pretty impressed with how much effort the Dakka mods have been putting into keeping the gender conversation ticking over and not just locked it early. There have been some really interesting posts and conversations between the bigots.
