With Trump found Guilty of 34 counts in the NY Hush Money Trial, I went to our friends at FOX to get the real story.....

The high court's majority found that the statutory definition of a "machinegun" is any weapon capable of firing "automatically more than one shot…by a single function of the trigger."

"We hold that a semiautomatic rifle equipped with a bump stock is not a ‘machinegun’ because it cannot fire more than one shot 'by a single function of the trigger.' And, even if it could, it would not do so ‘automatically,'" Thomas wrote.

"ATF therefore exceeded its statutory authority by issuing a Rule that classifies bump stocks as machineguns," he said.

After a 2017 mass shooting in Las Vegas that left 60 people dead and 500 more wounded, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) issued an interpretive rule concluding that "bump stocks" are machine guns.

"This tragedy created tremendous political pressure to outlaw bump stocks nationwide. Within days, Members of Congress proposed bills to ban bump stocks and other devices ‘designed to accelerate the rate of fire of a semiautomatic rifle,’" Thomas wrote in Thursday's opinion.

A pretty straight news story that relied extensively on quotes from the court and the plaintiffs.

The future of Fox News — one of the most influential players in television and conservative politics — appears likely to be determined, improbably, by a probate court official in Reno, Nevada. Absent a last-minute settlement, the trial begins Monday.

The proceedings more broadly involve the disposition of 93-year-old Rupert Murdoch’s global media empire, which also includes the Wall Street Journal, the Times of London, the Australian and the New York Post.

Murdoch wants to amend his trust to hand off full control to his eldest son, Lachlan, who is currently running their companies. Lachlan’s three eldest siblings — those who are poised to share control of the business with him after their father dies — oppose the change. The two youngest children — daughters from Rupert Murdoch’s third marriage — share equally in the financial bounty, but have been promised no control.
