Hi all,
It's been sometime since I last visited here. 5 years, according to my profile. As of last friday, that's 1/5 of my life. To me, that sounds like a lot. Not sure if anyone from back in the day is still here (except Felix of course, who's facebook post this evening randomly inspired me to swing by), but I assume the vibe is at least similar to back in the days when we hid in one of the subforums.
(Confession: I had to ask Felix how to find the place again.)
So what has everyone been up to? I'd try to read through, but fuck, there's a lot of pages.
I'll start:
Graduated from college: Hofstra University. BBA in International Business and Economics. Hasn't done me much good.
Had a real relationship: No more 6-month flings to bitch about. Just one 4.5 year relationship. Moved in together and everything; thought it was 'the one'. That ended a year or so ago. Just starting to get out there again recently.
Moved to NYC: First to Park Slope Brooklyn (with the lady), then to the Upper East Side (again, with the lady), and now to Washington Heights. Which I love, surprisingly.
Well, not surprisingly. This is the view from my place:
Had some "real" jobs: Worked for a NY State Senator for 2 years while in college. Helped run his reelection campaign in 2010. We lost. But it was cool.
Worked on Wall Street for 2+ years. That ended in November when I learned my boss (who I hated anyways) was stealing money from my commissions.
Now I'm a bartender.
Helped my brother start a brewery: Enlightenment Ales. We're the #2 rated brewery in all of MA according to Beer Advocate. I am merely a financier/confidant. That being said: My brother makes AWESOME BEER. If you live in/near Boston, do yourself a favor and try it.
The ultimate plan is for the two of us to work together, but for now the place is too small.
Got some taste in music: I wont go on about this, but Ska is no longer the only music I listen to. Last album I listened to was Aufheben by Brian Jonestown Massacre, if anyone cares.
In short: I'm a bartender in New York with cheap rent and good friends. Life is good.
EDIT: Should have put this in the "update thread", but I like attention.
