Well, apparently the one thing that will cause the GOP to break from trump has been found, helping people. Apparently, the Senate is looking like it will not pass the $2000 stimulus checks.

Can't be irresponsible and run up the deficit now can we? They're fiscal conservatives and this concerns non-rich people.

I can't wait for them to shift to an austerity position after running up the largest deficit in the history of the U.S. and how we need to cut social programs instead of the military budget or instead of raising taxes on corporations, and the rich.

The rethoric against the $2000 has already moved to the deficit. So if the Dems don't win both seats in GA, that will be the next two years at least. Of course, what's the chance they just block everything out of principle regardless.

So it will be just 2 years of "nope spend less" after 4 years of "spend whatever you want". Those cunts deserve to be about a head shorter

I wouldn't bet on that. Trump is really giving those two the shaft hard in response to this, and the GoP is taking a lot of heat over this.

Voting is still overwhelmingly influenced by party identity rather than policy, though, at least according to FiveThirtyEight's analysis. So just being listed as GOP candidates will keep the majority of GOP voters in their camp.

Exactly. As much as every Republican voter would love to have an extra $2000 in their pocket, they're still not going to vote for the evil baby-killing, gun-stealing, gay-loving, socialist pinko commies.

No, what they're doing is not voting at all. Which sort of amounts to the same thing, but still.

I want the dems to win those seats (and thus, the senate's majority when things are split directly along party lines) but I don't expect it to happen. It seems like a longshot at best.

I would not be surprised at this point if the Democrats managed to win one seat, but I can't help but feel like expecting to win both is overly optimistic.

Drumpf has tweeted that the runoff election is illegal and illegitimate, if he shows up and says that in person to his rally crowd, things could get interesting.

So what are the odds on you guys completely fucking this up when it goes to congress for what was traditionally a rubber stamp. 10% chance of you fucking up? 1%? And I don't mean one or two idiots trying to make a meal of it and a show, I mean of the senate just going "actually fuck it why cooperate" and not passing when they have to vote
