I am really impressed by his double whammy of;
1. "The Left picks and chooses science" - while completely ignoring US creationism (solidly Right) and a large part of the conspiracy-sphere (mostly Right)
2. "Don't tell me what I and people like me think" - while ignoring 1.

Well, they've already been kind of crossing the line. I don't remember any out and out insults, but they were aggressive, which is not polite.

Good to see the trainwreck is picking up steam in less then 24 hours, the Dakka guarantee works there too! Now we just need a few people lobbing the SJW and Cancel Culture handgrenades for literally no reason but to poison the well and its just like home! Well, they've already been kind of crossing the line. I don't remember any out and out insults, but they were aggressive, which is not polite. Calling everyone dishonest for the crime of not agreeing with you seems horribly impolite. |

Yeah it seems like the threads have their one person who is happy to throw out a lot of "nuh uh" while maintaining (mostly) the barest minimum of technical politeness, who is happy to spike the discussion. Ah well, was good to read while it lasted, the conservative thread was interesting when it was Manchu and Walrus and the others, differentiating between US conservatism and a more general conservatism, as was their second brief discussion about the electoral college

As far as I know RiTides didn't want mods to actively participate themselves so.
Although so far it seems to be taking a turn for the worse, when the argument in 2021 can still be "provide evidence that lies can be more appealing than the truth".

Yeah the Brexit thread seems to have run its course in terms of useful discussion as well, if that's the quality of argument getting thrown back at people trying to disagree with him. Ah well. |
