So the Biden Administration falls flat on it's face in regards to the 2000 $ stimulus checks.
They said "within the first week". Biden said "immediately".
The Democrats could run a clean bill, containing nothing but the stimulus check, through Congress, but, no....... They have to include it in a 2 trillion dollar relief plan, that is sure to get huge push back from Republicans, as it contains things the Republican aren't happy about.
Fucking idiots.

I mean, $2trillion is still $1trillion less than the Republican passed relief package from March 2020. So if they bitch and try to block this one, maybe point that out.

I mean, $2trillion is still $1trillion less than the Republican passed relief package from March 2020. So if they bitch and try to block this one, maybe point that out. The main problem is that Biden and the Democrats are including the stimulus check (of either value) in a 2 trillion dollar COVID relief plan, that is absolutely 100% sure to experience push back from Republicans. This allows Republicans to point to one or two items on the relief plan, that they don't like, and present that to their voters and say; "See? The communist Democrats are trying to push through this and that socialist agenda. Thankfully we stopped the Marxists".....and of course not mention the stimulus checks at all. Democrats could run a clean bill, containing nothing but the stimulus check, through Congress, and HAMMER any Republican that refused. This would take mere days to do. THEN they could start introducing the overall relief plan, and do their usual politicking bullshit, that dominates so much of Congress. But for some inexplicable reason Democrats don't do that. Democrats seems to think, that Republicans cares so much about the stimulus check and the welfare of the average American, that they (the Republicans) will accept all the other stuff in the bill, just to get stimulus checks out. I think you and I both agree, that Republicans don't care nearly enough (if at all) about the average American to do that. And of course the number should be 2000, as that is the number that kept getting mentioned. End of story.

You put it in a package, force Republicans on the record to state what exactly they don’t like, and then just pass it anyway.

Don't fuck around with waiting for some perfect bipartisan response, you won't get it from those cunts. They've got 2 years before they lose either house or senate because of the weight of lies that will be blasted our, so make the most of it

Steelmage is right. It should have been a single item: a $2,000 check. Yay or nay.
"On the record" doesn't fucking matter anymore. At all. Deporables don't care to check, and their reps don't care to tell the truth. With a complex plan, the reps can make vague allusions to 'communist dems' and their useful idiots cheer them on for saving them.
It's harder to lie about a single item bill.

It hardly matters, the GoP will lie regardless and the people who would actually believe them are lost anyway. Might as well just push as much as possible through, instead of wasting time doing it piecemeal.

The only way to force it, is to try using a Senate rule called Budget-Reconciliation, which can be passed by 51 votes (ie, all 50 Dems + VP Harris)...the challenge here, is that it must be revenue neutral, which requires massive tax increases in order to fund it. Canuck is right, the Dems simply should've had a bill just for the stimulus, as there are plenty of Republican who would vote for it.

The stimulus bill was never really about a $2,000 check anyway.
They passed a $600 check, and everyone said it should have been a $2,000 check. If we want to increase it, then increase it. But it was pretty clear that they have always talked about an additional check to bring it up to $2,000.
And the rules for having to be revenue neutral were repealed by the GOP House and GOP Senate, hence the tax cut bill that increased the deficit and was 100% not revenue neutral. Hell, the fact that you can use budget reconciliation to pass a bill that only focuses on revenue or only focuses on spending, or only focuses on the debt ceiling makes it pretty easy to realize that.
But hey, cancerous cunts are caring about the deficit again for 9 days now.

It’s also important to note that the bipartisan approach is:
A) mainly for your internal audience. You offer up the package, ask what spending they don’t like and make them say “I don’t like funding for vaccines” or “I don’t like direct payments” instead of just saying “the whole thing is expensive”, and then you can show to your voters that you tried. Bipartisanship doesn’t mean the minority party gets to stop anything they don’t like, it just means that you make an honest effort and then move on.
B) budget Reconciliation is still bipartisan, because the minority party can still have input and still vote on it.

Isn't it totally strange and weird how the GOP once again cares about spending after the last 4 years?
It's almost like they're hypocrites who are happy to let people die...

It’s easier to hide behind a theoretical principle, rather than just admit you think people should just fuck off and die poor somewhere. “I would love to help, but the deficit is tying my hands...”

Well looking at RiTides' forum after a few days, it seems to have firmly descended into denials/apologist rhetoric and one really weird mix of Swiss exceptionalism/enlightened centrism. Isn't it totally strange and weird how the GOP once again cares about spending after the last 4 years? It's almost like they're hypocrites who are happy to let people die... It’s easier to hide behind a theoretical principle, rather than just admit you think people should just fuck off and die poor somewhere. “I would love to help, but the deficit is tying my hands...” Remember, conservatives seriously question if you can be considered poor if you have the 'luxury' of owning things like a TV or a fridge. So really, are these people dying poor? Or are they just too lazy to bootstrap themselves by selling off their 'luxury goods'?
