I threw my name in the hat. “Slytherin!” (Someone had to say it.)

I say go for it, the more candidates the better AFAIK, but that's assuming we're not limited to 3 votes. I signed up, because I might as well try to help vote moderation in the right direction. If RiTides blows it up regardless of the results (as I half expect), I can still walk away.

I wonder if that site can even be saved. It can, but it's going to take everyone coming to the table with some good faith, humility, ability to identify some common ground, appreciate the basic humanity in each other, and likely even be willing to concede a bit (or at least hear others out). Granted, some have a bit more ground to concede and not everyone is coming to the discussion with the same level of emotional intelligence or maturity, but with time, cultivation, and a bit of help and understanding from others, those things can improve.

I threw my name in the hat. “Slytherin!” (Someone had to say it.) I'm not familiar enough with Harry Potter to grasp the full implications of that.

Slytherin is the "evil" house basically.

Slytherin is the "evil" house basically. I got that. Isn't there some more subtext to it though? Harry was supposed to be Slytherin initially and didn't some of the Slytherin members end up being "good guys"? Or not really?

They did I think, but I don't think there's more subtext to what they said here, but I could be wrong.

Harry was supposed to be Slytherin initially and didn't some of the Slytherin members end up being "good guys"? Or not really? Well, not really. The Slytherins sat out the final battle against Voldemort under armed guard if I remember correctly. Harry potentially being a Slytherin is because he had a peice of Voldemorts soul attached to him. Yeah, Rowling's writing already had some pretty questionable stuff, especially regarding minorities and class, before she outed herself as a massive TERF.

Mostly it was a joke. I was deciding between Slytherin and Ravenclaw and Slytherin was funnier.

Mostly it was a joke. I was deciding between Slytherin and Ravenclaw and Slytherin was funnier. Fair enough. Thanks all for sharing the Harry Potter info.

Slytherin is the "evil" house basically. Slytherin is the ambitious house. Most of them aren’t evil, just willing to associate with and support evil to further their own goals...
