“Because sperm and eggs” is my new favorite argument. Gave me Borat 2 levels of laughter. Sounds like another Doctor Seuss book that publishers don't want to print anymore. One that reuses a lot of “would you, could you in a _______” phrases?

Grey Eminence is becoming exhausting.

Honestly, I'm becoming exhausted by GBT's "wE cAn ChAnGe BiGoTs!1!1oNe" rhetoric. I really hope he doesn't get a mod spot, he'll be the death of the forum. Well, and the bigots he wants to pander to.

I sympathize in spirit. I want to try to help people who are ignorant understand. But someone like Grey, who is either unwilling or unable to understand even basic things that no one else is having trouble with, and who also is very insistent on saying the same thing again and again, just sucks the vitality out of a board. It’s Dakka all over again, and depending on the moderation will require deft moderation to become a shithole or a ghost town.

GBT's argument saying that transgender people are mentally ill isn't bigotry is stupid beyond belief.
I could argue that *insert religious people here* are mentally ill because they believe in an *insert imaginary friend with magical powers*.
First of all, that would clearly be seen as bigoted. Second of all, I could clearly argue that this stance is right based on GBT's logic. People are raised to choose to believe in the above example of the 'imaginary friend', there is (as of yet, please don't take this in a bad way) no scientific evidence what they believe is actually real. People want to and choose to believe and live their lives according to old books written by people who 'talked' to this being that has no proof of existence, but nobody chooses to be mentally ill. Why isn't the other considered mental illness by the people who consider transgender people mentally ill, they too believe in something that 'clearly' shouldn't be 'real' according to their logic? To pretend mental illness still not stigmatized is ludicrous. So why is it an acceptable comment when I would possibly say this about transgender people and bigotry when I would about *insert religious people here*?
Last, you raise someone to be religious, no one is religious in a vacuum, but you can't raise anyone to be transgender anymore than you can raise them to be gay, straight, black, white etc etc, its something you are. Of course the comparison is a bit absurd, but the response you would get is entirely different.

GBT overall is just infuriating, and the fact they'd want to encourage bigotry because it's a "minority opinion" and thus, needed to keep the place diverse is beyond stupid.

Maybe an adaptation of the famous Henry Ford misquote would make for a good forum motto: "You can have any diversity you like, so long as its conservative cisgender white male."
Maybe needs some refinement, but I feel its really scratches the surface of the diversity they're looking for.

I wrote a big block of text and just realized the shortest possible comparison. GBT argues that some transgender people do have what is classified as a mental illness, so its not bigotry to state that transgender people are mentally ill.
By that logic Trump is not a bigot, because statistically some Mexicans are rapists?

I would, but I'm already boiling because I and my partner respectively have brain damage (mild, but affecting perception of strangers) and mental illness (which she has to keep secret because its still a huge stigma on her side). I don't think I'm able to exchange more than a fuck you to someone who is defending bigotry by using those types of examples.
This is exactly the kind of behaviour that got me off Dakka. Be polite but as long as I make vague implications I'm untouchable because the mods don't do anything.
Maybe I will join up if the anti-bigotry moderation approach wins. But I'm content to see if RiTides intervenes and kills it before committing.

I think I'll wait to see if the mod team is that Tree wanker, Baron and someone else or if it's three people that are happy saying "we don't want someone saying all these people are less than us because X"
