Well, GBT finally posted their statement, and it's pretty awful. They're perfectly ok with people calling any personality feature or trait a "mental illness" along with being ok if people call trans-people "mentally ill."

So I'm in the curious circumstance that I suffer from mild brain damage that is almost imperceptible (unless you want me to do art, in case here is a stick figure) while having a partner with (on the occassion if there is a big trigger) serious mental illness.
If RiTides holds to this stance, I will have to publicly give everyone the golden ticket of being able to call our opponents 'mental defectives'. After all, I've learned that I, Supreme Ruler of the People with Brain Damage, get to decide that you people are using 'mental defective' as a positive feature, not a bug.

I don’t get how anyone can pretend Grey used that term in good faith while also repeatedly refusing to use polite terminology and misgendering people. Is it an ego thing? Can BigTree just not admit he wasn’t paying attention and swooped in to rescue the wrong poster?

Personally, I believe GBT is not quite the reformed bigot he paints himself as. I mean, in the previous thread he said:
When all he has to do is think back to how he felt, and what emotions they felt when they were openly bigoted. I'm not saying they're still bigoted, but they definitely don't have the insight into anything like they seem to think they do. I have friends who've suffered and fought against this whole "trans is just a mental illness" including at least one who I know ran away from home to avoid being sent to one of those fucking shitty conversion camps or whatever growing up, friends who suffer from actual mental illness (including one who's at risk of being sent to a mental facility involuntarily), and watched one of my dad's best friends (and mine, we played chess a lot together) lose his mind to dementia or some kind of illness that slowly made him unaware enough to not know where they are, but still somewhat function (if that makes sense). So yeah, this whole thing has me fucking furious at his blatant and disrespectful dismissal and straw-manning of this whole topic. I'm so tired of their holier than thou attitude where they're so learn-ed and wise, how reasonable and pragmatic they are, how his position is one of fluidity and how he can adapt as his knowledge changes. How they're here to teach the unenlightened masses the way of the E N L I G H T E N E D C E N T R I S T. |

Personally the fact that he can't refrain from sniping at people is why I don't want him being a mod. It's one of the reasons why I didn't run myself.
