I suggested closing the thread but making sure to address it and all the mod issues it raised with the other mods. I did not realize they were unavailable.

The sheer privilege on display and the bizarre insistence of being the spokesperson of all people suffering from mental illness leaves me speechless. Hopefully this will be addressed, either directly by the other mods or indirectly by pointed rules. |

I still believe that's the right call, but I'm pretty biased against GBT so that may not be the right call. |

He can’t just remove his admins unilaterally, at least not within the framework he wants for the site. He’d need the other two mods to agree to come up with a process to have a democratic recall, or something like that.
I also expect GBT to rein himself in or adopt a different posture once there are solid rules and the other mods are there to consult with. I don’t know how successful he’ll be, but at least he would not be essentially left to fend for himself.

After calming down and giving it some thought, I think GBT in regards to mental illness might be suffering from toxic positivity. He wants so badly to not have mental illness seen as something negative (which it really shouldn't) that he seems to be projecting it onto others and becoming blinded to the malice behind their statements.
He might not even realize what he is doing and allowing himself to become a token/shield to the very people he is trying to prove himself to.
We will see where it ends up. At this point it seems 2 more mods might be needed to have a bit more of a consistent presence.

Someone's apparently rammed a car into two officers at Capitol. One of the officers is dead and the suspect's died after being shot by the officers. Very tragic. Luckily the suspect did not have a gun (reports say he brandished a knife at the other officers) or it might have ended with more casualties. From the early reports the perpetrator seems to have been suffering from some sort of mental health issue, some sort of paranoia about the government spying on him. |

God forbid people don't want to settle for anything less than equality. That is what happens when someone's viewpoint is built on hatred of another rather than any actual ideology. The ideology you claim to support will be discarded if it gets in the way of you hurting your perceived enemies. You see the same thing with US republican voters, where they will vote for people who cut the programs that benefit them because they believe it will hurt others more. Or they will discard "conservatism" in favour of Donald Trump. And then democracy itself in favour of Donald Trump. |

I love how Zardoz blasted the so-called "Bernie Bros" for spitefully not voting for Hillary, and thus subjecting us to four years of Dorito Mussolini, while using his very next breath to proclaim that he will now be spitefully voting for far-right candidates who will persecute trans people because lefties are angry with him for not actually supporting the trans rights he claims he supports. Wow.
