This isn't really the Eel or the Eagle though, this is a phd in the area who regularly attends competitions in the sport and went through a (clearly too lax) selection process. I don't see why someone with what is theoretically a good resume in it (although if you've seen some of her previous stuff... it's not great) gets put on the same level as people like the Eel or the Eagle in an effort to handwave away failure.
I also feel for the Japanese girl who won, she was fantastic but people are going to remember our failure more than they will her efforts. Or our 16 year old we sent to the boys side of the comp, he didn't do well but he at least scored some points. And he's also a kid, that deserves more focus than a phd failing at what she is meant to be good at, then stringing a bunch of excuses together afterwards

Proud to see the UK doing so well at the Paralympics.
To see funding for athletes across the Olympics and Paralympics bear such fruit is definitely encouraging.
