It sounds like CRIME is going to be a big GOP talking point and the media and big businesses are gleefully jumping on it too!
Many Retailers are blaming closing locations on CRIME. Of course, they have to tell their shareholders something, and that sounds way better than poor business decisions.
Business community speaks out after Target blames crime for store closures

Business leaders are expressing alarm after Target became the latest retailer to blame crime for pulling the plug on stores.
“The US Chamber is deeply concerned with increasing reports of stores closing in communities across the country due to large-scale theft and looting,” Tom Wickman, senior vice president of state and local policy at the US Chamber of Commerce, told CNN in a statement on Wednesday. “No store should have to close because of theft.”
Target sent shockwaves through the industry on Tuesday by saying it will close nine stores across four states due to large-scale theft. It is not clear whether the stores were under-performing or reaching their revenue goals. Target did not comment on this or provide data on theft at the stores. Target previously said it was expecting to lose $500 million this year due to rising theft.
In addition, the Media is gleefully reporting on large smash-n-grab events, but are they actually increasing in frequency? Hard to say!

Dozens of people arrested in Philadelphia after stores are ransacked across the city
Dozens of people ransacked stores across Philadelphia on Tuesday night, bursting inside in large numbers and quickly fleeing with stolen merchandise.
Law enforcement officials say they arrested 49 adults and three juveniles in the looting, which occurred shortly after a peaceful protest over a judge's decision to drop all charges against a Philadelphia police officer who shot and killed a driver last month.
Interim Police Commissioner John M. Stanford Jr. stressed that the incidents were not connected with the protest: "What we had tonight was a bunch of criminal opportunists take advantage of a situation and make an attempt to destroy our city," he said in a press conference Tuesday night.
Now, the GOP ran with this in the Mid-terms, and did not score success; but they are back at the trough anyway. Let's see what happens.
