Apparently Iraq is a holy war, at least for her son. I thought we generally frowned upon those things.
I hope she keeps giving interviews, and to organizations which are a great deal more hostile than the closet Republican ABC. At one point Charlie Gibson all but rolled his eyes when he had to restate his question, about troops being sent to Iraq, to encompass her feeble attempt at a dodge.
Best moment of the coverage? During the analysis on CNN by Bay Buchanan and a Dem. commentator, whose name I can't recall, this little exchange took place:
Dem.: Foreign policy isn't based on faith; its based on facts and knowledge.
Bay: The American people have had facts and knowledge for many years, and they're tired of it.
Dem.: (extended pause) Yes, Bay, that's what we don't want in the oval office. Facts and knowledge.
Unfortunately this little string of comments indicates two things to me. One, the Republicans still know that Americans are generally fucktards, and they are willing to capitalize on that fact. Two, the willingness of an intelligent human being like Bay Buchanan to commit to Palin shows that the Republicans are not after the Presidency (which is doomed to a one and out), but the 3 Supreme Court seats which will be up for grabs. Unfortunately, this also makes this election far more critical for the Dems to secure. Something which I increasingly lose faith in, due primarily to the aforementioned fucktardedness.
I don't really feel like seeing Roe V. Wade overruled in my lifetime.
That said, Dems are going to have the option of taking the last few weeks before a doubtful election to position themselves for 2012. If they go on the attack at the end, and express exasperation at the state of the American intellect, they are virtually guranteed of being able to say "I told you so" in 4 years.

I find it interesting that you posit the repubs being more interested in the judicial branch than the executive branch.
It makes sense though, as the judicial branch needs to be looked into as more and more civil liberties can be taken away by that. The 2000 election proved that to many people, especially considering what happened because of that judicial decision. Securing that before the dems get their hands on it for possible reform does indeed make a lot of sense.

Especially considering the Roberts court has been almost as much an 'activist' court as the Berger court.

Can't find a video of the commentary, but this this is a pretty decent summary of it. Also here is the interview itself, with trasnscipts. Unfortunately there are far worse things there than the idea of a holy war in Iraq. Like the idea that she 'knows' Russian leadership because she can see Russia from Alaska. Edit: I spoke to soon here is the commentary. Also, my memory of it was somewhat generous. The exact quote is much, much worse for Palin/Buchanan.

Who was that brilliant man postulating that she was gaining all kinds of FP insight on Russia via osmosis? McCain. Though she herself said something similar in the interview.

You give the Dame Buchanan too much fucking credit, Takedown. While questionably intelligent, she is a harridan of the highest order. She is a Mount Rushmore face with tits. To use a phrase my dad often says: I wouldn't fuck her with your dick. Some of the utterly stupid and hypocritical shit that dribbles from her maw makes me wish I was a thermonuclear bomb with one fucking second left on the timer. If left alone in a room with her, Rachel Maddow, Sean Hannity, Dick Morris and Keith Olberman, I would be torn as to whom I would beat to death with my penis first. But I digress.
I agree that the Republicans are salivating thinking of filling the soon to be vacated supreme court seats (unless Robo Ruth Bader Ginsburg becomes self aware), but I doubt Roe v Wade will be overturned in our lifetimes. They may want it, but the shitstorm it would bring would be unbearable. I fully expect a Shiawase and Seretech Decision in the coming years, though.
And isn't America's stand on Russia to basically let them do what they want? Sure, we've circled him with missile bases and are trying to cut off a piece of the Caspian oil fields, but what's a little belligerent saber-rattling amongst friends?! I personally detest Count Vlad, (a feeling that extends to most world leaders) but I admire his spunk. And he's a hell of a salesman, pushing decades old tech on thick-necked piles of shit like Hugo Chavez. A couple of Blackjack bombers? You could have gotten a couple Tu-95 Bears for probably half the price. But that probably wouldn't do, would it? Like hillbillies with lottery money...
But back to the original issue, I find it funny that so much scrutiny is being put on Hot for Governor. In fact, it's almost like she's being overexposed so that she's better liked than Biden for the simple fact that she's been more visible. But I see conspiracy in everything.

Vermgho5t: not the DC ruling per se, but pretty much everything that's happened since Roberts became Chief Justice, and even before in the latter days of Rehnquist. There has been an uptick in interpretations on not only big deal things (2nd amendment) but so-called little issues of procedure and jurisdiction from this court that have a profound effect on the laws of the land--including negating them. DC is just more high profile. Take a look at Dahlia Lithwick's articles on Slate for more on that (yes, it's liberally biased; deal).
Between the Supreme Court aggrandizing its power and the Fed just buying Fannie and Freddie--without any legislative authorization, costing us taxpayers a lot of moolah, and left out of the budget--appointed government agencies are flexing quite a bit of muscle.

Is it the part where they're shouting over each other? That's it. Jester: Bay is a Harridan, no doubt, but she is a neo-con Harridan. This means she is certainly an intelligent individual, but one that is marked by a consistently despicable brand of arrogance. By no means do I respect her, but her actions certainly bare a great deal of the Republican agenda. That said, if she had to die, let it be by chimp rape. Afterall, the Republican position has always been that they didn't cum from monkeys. As for Putin, I like him. The worst people are often the best heads of state.

Hey, look at the banner ad! McCain has figured out that getting lots of $50 contributions is better than getting a few $2500 ones... and he's come to ask us! [Edit]Compliance fund = campaign finance loophole. Fucking hypocrite.
Early in the process, I was really kind of upset that McCain was able to beat all the other Republican candidates- the hillbilly patriarch theocrat from next door, the New York guy, the fake 'Republican' Mormon guy, and the actor. McCain was, I felt, the candidate that I most respected, and if there was one Republican I could vote for, it was him. And the Democrats, I felt, weren't giving of their best. (Thankfully, Hillary failed her entitlement check.)
You see, I really, really want the Republicans to lose control of the government, because I think putting lobbyists in charge of regulating the industries they used to represent is a corrupt practice. And I thnk ideology is a poor basis for foreign policy, especially when that ideology has only a tenuous corellation to reality. Giving me a Republican candidate that I can actually respect and agree with was going to cause some angst.
So we end up with Obama, a relatively unknown quantity (but charismatic) facing McCain. I thought I was going to be torn, spending weeks undecided, giving Obama a chance to convince me he'd be better than McCain.
Then I watch McCain flip-flop on every issue that mattered to me. He culminates by choosing this... idiot... to be his running mate. All respect that I had for him is gone. He's lying to someone- either me and all the other independents who liked his 'maverick' positions, or else to the Republican base whose collective ass he has been kissing for the past six months.
I just wish Obama had a sense of humor.
