r/Conservative is such a inferno right now. There are rants about Fox News being a traitor, vapid conspiracy theories about the election being stolen, dumb claims that SCOTUS will soon invalidate tens of thousands of votes in PA (none of the votes in question in PA have been counted yet), and all kinds other nonsense.

Wondering if it would be a good move for Biden and Harris to campaign in Georgia. Even if they lose the state for themselves, there is a striking chance at getting a Senate seat. Every seat matters even if they can't get the majority.

I’m so very happy right now. I am too. We've got 73 days until this nightmare is officially over.

I think it's a happy time, but it's naive to think it's over. Trumpism isn't going anywhere, and we don't know a lot of things right now.

It's way too early to start assuming it's over. I mean, Moscow Mitch is still in office. Graham is still in office. These sycophants are still in office and are planning to obstruct everything they can.

There's no real reason to be happy. Yes Trump is gone, but look how much of the US still wanted him. That alone screams that the character of our country is in a miserable place. The people here are selfish, hateful, and stupid, who can't see past their own nose and don't understand how the world works. As long as they make the otherside mad and worrying about taxes on the rich because someday they'll be rich.
While I am happy Trump is out of office.
This is a pyrrhic victory at best.

On the other hand...: Biden might be a shit-tier candidate who listens way too much to corporate interests, but I will take pleasure in trumptards world crumbling down around them.

There is still a hell of a lot of damage he can do via executive orders, pardons, etc. If he's enough of a sore loser, we could be looking at another government shutdown when the current continuing resolution ends December 11.

I suspect we'll soon see a legal battle over whether or not the President can pardon himself and his cronies and Trump's justices will find themselves in an awkward position.

You understand LP was actually fucking worthless right? Trump's share of GOP votes went from 90% to 93% last I checked. Interesting note: that was actually caused by the number of people who left the GoP. I watched 2500 people in Mercer County, in PA, vote Biden, despite voting for Republicans downticket.
Biden won doing exactly what you're saying he shouldn't do. To be perfectly honest, I'd have Biden pardon Trump, and then let the State court's deal with him. Biden looks good but Trump gets the jail time everyone wants to see from him.
And, let me make this really clear for you, we can't run this country the way you seem to think we can. It does not work. What you get then is each time the other party gets elected, they spend four years tearing down what the previous party spent four years assembling.
I spent years going through the papers of William Stuart, a GOP Member of the House during the Buchanan administration. What you're talking about is literally the same mistake that was made then, which will inevitably lead to the same result.

That's another thing I'm worried about. Just in my own department in the agency I've already seen signs of Trump appointees panicking and orders and counter orders comming down from above.

The problem is that breaking the cycle requires give and take from both sides. Neither side wants to give an inch mostly because the GOP learned they don't have too and the Dem's don't want to look weak in front of the few left who keep putting them in power. You can't have compromise when the other person just wants to punch you in the face and take the whole cake instead of just a piece and not punching you in the face. None of the GOP where punished for their hypocrisy in fact they were rewarded for it. Trump was allowed to be as evil and damaging as he was by their god damn hands, and they were rewarded for it. So basically we're right back where we were under Obama in a worst case scenario. The GOP go back to being obstructionists till they get their dream combo of house, senate, and president.
Like I said, it's pyrrhic victory, nothing more. In fact, it'll be worse the next time we get a smooth talking snake oil salesman who can take the reins of the MAGA cult or Qanon and steer them.
Then again, maybe I'm just really hoping I'm wrong.
