Maybe? You reposting the url just embeds the Twitter link in my view again.

So I see. That does at least explain why I see a lot of empty messages from you, but at least I know how to get them now.

It’s a feature I super love on proboards, and something I really missed on Etc, but yeah it would kind of suck if it doesn’t work for you. I’ll try to remember to paste a line broken link in along with the working one.

It sounds like a great feature, but yeah all I get is what looks like an empty post.
It works with MS Edge but not Firefox, so it's probably a security setting. If I can figure out my password I may just change browser.

It is used in reference to armed civilians due to the 2A. It's not limited to armed civilians. Nobody reasonable who is saying "the only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun" is actually arguing that only armed civilians can stop active shooters. Why is it almost always used in conjunction with trying to arm civilians, then? That's a good question. I think it's probably because police who are on duty (and in some cases off duty) are already allowed to carry in a lot of places that are considered "gun free zones" for everyone else, including civilian concealed carry license holders (which in turn translates to mostly defenseless targets for those wanting to do harm). Allowing concealed carry license holders to carry in those places would be the quickest way to increase the potential number of armed defenders without having to train and pay for more police officers (which also has the potential to bring its own set of additional problems, depending on the context).

But if you allow concealed carry holders (even in states with permitless concealed carry?) you introduce legal guns and provide a justification for having a gun there. Remember that what every mass shooter is completely legal and part of the "well regulated militia" right up until the point they start shooting, and at that point it's too late.
If all guns are illegal in a space, then you can arrest someone for having a gun there *before* they start shooting, and actually save lives.
Introducing more guns may help bring down the shooter, assuming the good guy with gun is suitably trained and in the right place, but it's likely you'd just introduce more confusion. After hearing shots in a mall, you draw your gun and run out, you see a guy with a gun - is he the good guy or the bad guy?
How do the cops know who to shoot if a good guy has a gun drawn when they pull up?

This sounds like a lot of wishful thinking. It has gone from more money to police, to armed guards to simply more guns, while the incident rate has only gone up.

If you're a hammer, then everything looks like a nail. You can't admit that more guns won't solve the problem without admitting that guns are the problem.

If only three people were killed by a gunman in New Mexico and he roamed a neighborhood shooting randomly, do we have to reset the clock?
I think a Mass Shooting definition is 4+ people killed not including the gunman? Since only three died in New Mexico we can save up our thoughts and prayers for when a "real" Mass Shooting happens right?
....At this point, I don't even know if this is sarcasm.....

I’m in a similar boat. When I heard about the shooting my first thought was “Farmington? That’s where they’ve got all those tire stores.”

What they needed was a good guy with a gun to stop them.
