I guess she became (in)famous before the grift really became profitable for her?

I'm sure this will be a totally unbiased investigation with no incentive at all to find that the school did nothing wrong and it's all the student's fault for disobeying Jesus.

So they were advised to go to the hospital for treatment, but died after being taken to the hospital the next day. However, its not related to the reason they were meant to go there in the first place, physical injuries?
Feels very strange.

It's not a stretch to say the kid may have topped themselves after the fight, if it went poorly and they were promised more for the rest of their schooling... after years of struggle, finally coming out then copping something like that it might seem like the only way out to a kid. So while it may not have been "caused by" the fight, it was still caused by the fight. Just not in a way that they can then blame the people involved legally, sadly

It might not be, but then the family statement would be the strange part, I assume suicide would not leave other "liable parties".

I think suicide, unintentional overdose, and trauma are all plausible given the information provided (I am aware the police statement states trauma was not the cause of death). It is also possible to be a coincidental death from something unrelated, but that is far less likely.
Given the victim was probably concussed it is reasonable the family thought it could be related to their head injury rather than an intentional overdose.
Although it sounds like quite a typical history for a traumatic subdural bleed, I wonder if they received a head scan.

Teen death like this is always a tragedy.
As for the cause of death, and total speculation on my part, I'm leaning towards either suicide or natural causes/chemically induced accident. From the school video feed from the time Nex entered the ladies' room to the time they left was about 25 seconds. Yes, this IS time to get a serious injury but I kinda doubt it. Nex also had a history of seizures. Also they had bad reactions to vaping, yet continued to vape. Either of those things could be, or might not be, a cause or contributing factor in their death.

Let's speculate that the attack did not kill Nex.
Does that make the attack acceptable? Is it just kids being kids? Locker-room activity? No, but it probably would not be National news.
The fact that Nex died is secondary to the main issue, that her attack was promoted by a hateful ideology towards Trans and LGBT+ folks in Oklahoma. This ideology was aided and stoked by the State Legislature.
That is the root of the issue, and the real reason this is National News.

Won't stop parents from suing the teachers though.

I'd like to make a distinction in my comment between the overall bullying, and the fight itself. Speaking about just the fight, saying the other students "attacked" Nex isn't exactly accurate. Nex started the fight, and even admitted to it on camera. It lasted, at most, 25 seconds from the time Nex walked into the bathroom to the time she walked out. Now, I do understand that a history of being bullied should be weighed here, and may have prompted Nex's instigating this altercation. Also, Toxicology is back. Nex died be overdosing on two different medications.

Yeah, spilling water on someone is 'starting the fight'. Sorry, but physical violence in response to that is not warranted...

This feels like the grand tradition on the Right of "Blaming the Victim" for retaliating for harassment that the authorities put in place to spawn harassment in the first place against the victim.
Edit: I am not 100% sure that sentence makes sense, but I hope you get the idea.
