Quite incredible if Trump is going to be the Republican nominee again. He has lost once already, is there any other recent (or otherwise) history of a candidate that has lost once being put forward for a second go?
What is the feeling like within the US of how it will go? (Asking on behalf of the rest of the world, looking on with concern).

Nixon depending on how recent you think is recent, but he didn't get into office to then lose afterwards.

There's no recent history of someone having lost a presidential election making another attempt, but back in the day a cat named William Jennings Bryant ended up getting nominated by his party like three times and losing all three times. In the end, his only claim to fame was being the lawyer that "won" the Scopes Monkey Trial.

Some polls have Biden losing to Trump, shocking that it would even be possible in theory.

Polling this far out? Useless.
Plus, in Electoral politics it only matters which states you have locked up. Trump has very little path BUT the same was true in 2016 and he still pulled it off. It really depends on how many "new" voters he can mobilize compared to Biden.

An interesting opinion piece on Trump running for President again next year. This feels absolutely right, but you have to think will almost certainly be completely ignored. www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/apr/24/trump-treason-constitution-election-republicans-robert-reichHistorically, democracy is such a delicate, precious thing. I hope I am being pessimistic when it feels like there is a possibility we will see the death of it in 2024 (for Michael Moore's prediction of Trump being the final US President still coming to pass), which will see a further erosion of it globally following the guttering of the light that shone from the city on the hill.

Yeah I saw the same article. You'd think that the 14th amendment bit would mean it was all done and dusted really.

So, many pundits seem to think this election will be a Trump v Biden re-match.
Both have officially announced their candidacy.

In a early sign on how the Media will again let Trump do and say what he wants in return for ratings, CNN hosted a Trump only Town Hall. Why? Because the new bosses at CNN are trying to win Conservatives back to their channel by trying to show they are more Trumpie than FOX! www.cnn.com/2023/05/10/politics/takeaways-trump-town-hall-cnn/index.htmlThe 8 take-aways are: 1. Despite losing defamation case, continues to defame E. Jean Carroll. Can she sue him again for more money? 2. Trump wants to kill the US economy by blowing up the Debt Ceiling and encouraging fellow Rs to go over the cliff. 3. Trump doesn't care that much about abortion. 4. Trump is Pro-Russia and and not too much of a fan of NATO and Ukraine! Shock! 5. Pardon for Jan. 6th insurrectionists! He missed he chance last time, why believe him now? 6. Threatens to steal more kids at the border and force them into child labor. Just when the Rs are trying to smear that on Biden 7. 2020 Election Fraud lies..... again, and again, and again. 8. Trump is still a name-calling child. Trump has not changed at all since his loss in 2020 and is not doing anything different to win this time. He is still very popular in the R party, and is still the easy front runner. Prepare for another shitshow for election 2024, and the Press fawning all over this guy; again!
