The real danger is the morons who are underwhelmed by Biden and think voting third party is anything other than suicide. They won't vote for Trump, they'll just congratulate themselves on their enlightened centrism and the staggering level of intellectual superiority it took to realize both sides are bad and then passively watch as Trump wins. But hey, at least they didn't compromise their superior morality by voting for anyone other than the perfect candidate!
Just remember, the time to buy guns and learn how to use them is now, if you wait until the MAGA cultists are carrying out their promise to murder the people they hate it's far too late.

The fault isn't with Biden, it's with the media's financial stake in portraying this as a close race between two equal candidates for the sake of keeping attention and clicks/views on their coverage of the election. Biden fumbled his words, Trump spoke clearly but shamelessly lied and evaded all night. There should have been live fact checking with the coverage constantly calling out Trump's lies but it's more profitable to let him get away with it and have an inconclusive result where everyone needs to come back tomorrow to see what exciting new 1% shift in polling numbers happened. This. If you don't have a Paxman-type person hosting it, who won't let people get away without answering the question they were actually asked and who will call out lies and bullshit, then a debate is meaningless. Instead you have the equivalent of Peter O'Hanraha-hanrahan, who loses the news. |

Debates are all about appearance, and Biden lost on that metric. I did not watch the debate, but it is clear that the Dems online are losing their minds about how bad it went.
Think about the classic example of JFK vs. Nixon. People who listened on the radio thought Nixon won, but those who saw it on TV thought JFK won. Now, no one listens to debates or read the transcripts. Biden did not do well.
Final Thoughts: The Media every year tries to push the "Brokered Convention" fiction when no such thing is ever going to happen. This year, the angle is about replacing Biden. Never going to happen.

I don't know why you think anyone here *likes* Biden, but I'm guessing you're not actually reading the posts here.
For clarity - Biden and most of his replacements are terrible. Trump and his replacements (given he's nearly as old as Biden but in worse health) are even more terrible. There's no good outcome in this election. It's all bad for everyone.

But it is far worse for groups that aren't white, straight and male. At least Biden isn't actively waging war on women's and LGBTQ+ rights.
The group of people that have the luxury to sit out the election consider themselves to be untouched by whatever happens the next 4 years either way. Not backsliding on your rights is the good outcome here.

You know, I'm still not 100% sure how much this election is actually going to be close, and how much is just noise. The Republicans seem to be working doubly-hard this time to work up some voter enthusiasm compared to 2016 and 2020. Democrats seems to be more engaged than those last two elections.
Trump has to flip 3 out of 5 swing states: Georgia, Arizona, Nevada, Wisconsin, Michigan. I am not really sure there is a path. Michigan went full Democratic sweep. Wisconsin has been pushing back Blue in recent elections, with older voters leaving the state due to retirement. Arizona seems pretty safe thanks to Kari Lake polluting the stream there. Nevada looks to be in danger, and Georgia historically goes Republican. That gets Trump two and up to 22 of the 35 he needs to win. IIRC I think he needs 3 to actually win. Depending on which states it STILL might not be enough.
If Trump loses even one of the states he won last time, he is toast. However, I feel like there is less likely to be a move there, but Ohio seems to be trending Blue lately but probably not enough.
Therefore, I am not sure how close this is really going to be and how much of this is simply media illusion for ratings/clicks/$$$ and buying into the Republican Hype-train as they flood the zone. Plus, how much are pollsters overcorrecting for undercounting R voters in 2016 and 2020?

Pretty morbid, but there were two more years of reasonably severe levels of Covid infections after the last P election. With the excess death rates amongst Republicans being what they were, you got to wonder what effect that has on an election where more Democrats tend to show up anyway. |
