WASHINGTON — Donald Trump on Saturday night suggested President Joe Biden “should have to take a cognitive test," only to confuse who administered the test to him in the next sentence.

The former president and presumptive Republican nominee referred to Texas Republican Rep. Ronny Jackson, who was the White House physician for part of his presidency, as "Ronny Johnson.” The moment came as Trump was questioning Biden's mental acuity, something he often does on the campaign trail and social media.

Meh. I mess names up all the time. I’ve really gotten to the point of self reflection where throwing out an incorrect name by a politician isn’t really a scandal to me anymore. Especially saying Johnson instead of Jackson. Also stupid typos in typed messages. They have MUCH worse and stupider shit to point out than that.

Messing up with names is fine and human. Messing up names whilst claiming your opponent is senile and that you ace your cognitive tests is just embarrassing.

So it's not the mess up he made that's the issue, it's the irony I guess.

I'd love to see how he got on with an impartial, recorded test.

Anyway, the "big" debate is scheduled for this Thursday. I am not even 100% convinced a debate will happen. The rules do not favor Trump, it is on CNN, and Trump has not debated anyone since 2020. Of course, there is the matter of not backing down because he is the one who challenged Biden with "Anytime, any place?" or something to that effect. However, when has that ever stopped Trump from backing down before?

I don't know, I have a feeling Trump will be a No-Show.

Anyone see the debate last night? I didn't - been sole-parenting while my wife has been away looking after her sick mum and was too tired. But the coverage I'm seeing this morning doesn't look good. Sounds like Biden has massively fucked it.

The fault isn't with Biden, it's with the media's financial stake in portraying this as a close race between two equal candidates for the sake of keeping attention and clicks/views on their coverage of the election. Biden fumbled his words, Trump spoke clearly but shamelessly lied and evaded all night. There should have been live fact checking with the coverage constantly calling out Trump's lies but it's more profitable to let him get away with it and have an inconclusive result where everyone needs to come back tomorrow to see what exciting new 1% shift in polling numbers happened.
