Will the real JD Vance please stand up? Vance has been a hard-charging MAGA warrior but on Tuesday showed up as someone more agreeable. Will people buy it?


Walz was clearly less polished and more nervous on the national stage. He started off weakly, but was on better footing when talking about domestic issues, especially abortion, health care and Jan. 6.


Vance laid bare that he believes people should not trust experts, only Trump. The decline in trust for expertise and the inability for people to agree on a shared set of facts has been one of the biggest problems in American politics in last decade.


There were plenty of potentially explosive topics that weren’t brought up: childless cat ladies, military service, Ukraine and COVID.


Does Trump reconsider another debate? Will he really want to let Vance have the last word in front of the last big TV audience?

To be fair, that's exactly what we expected from the guy who called Trump Hitler but promptly flipped as soon as it was useful to his political career to be Trump's VP.

Driven by Republicans, most Americans are concerned about fraud in the 2024 election

A majority of Americans worry this year’s general election will be tainted by fraud, according to a new NPR/PBS News/Marist poll out Thursday — an ominous finding for the thousands of local election officials across the country tasked with administering voting.

Almost 6-in-10 Americans say they’re concerned or very concerned that there will be voter fraud this election, a number that experts say is driven in large part by Donald Trump’s continued false insistence that elections can’t be trusted. Eighty-eight percent of voters who say they support the former president say they are concerned there will be fraud, compared with 29% of those who support the Democratic nominee, Kamala Harris.

Pretty sure the Rs and Ds have a different idea of what that fraud looks like and who is perpetrating it.

I am not concerned with voter fraud, but I am concerned the Maga crowd is going to use the false claims of it to invalidate legitimate results and votes.

I mean, that literally happened last election, so…

I didn't think there were that many cases of MAGA fraud? I remember there being a handful of proven vote frauds that were by Republicans but not on any meaningful scale?

That's kind of the point. There hasn't been meaningful fraud that actually changes an election, but when there is fraud, it's often done by the people crying the loudest about it...

The FBI arrested an Afghan man who officials say was planning an Election Day attack

WASHINGTON — The FBI has arrested an Afghan man who officials say was inspired by the Islamic State militant organization and was plotting an Election Day attack targeting large crowds in the U.S., the Justice Department said Tuesday.

Nasir Ahmad Tawhedi, 27, of Oklahoma City told investigators after his arrest Monday that he had planned his attack to coincide with Election Day next month and that he and a co-conspirator expected to die as martyrs, according to charging documents.

Tawhedi, who arrived in the U.S. in 2021, had taken steps in recent weeks to advance his attack plans, including by ordering AK-47 rifles, liquidating his family's assets and buying one-way tickets for his wife and child to travel home to Afghanistan.

Man with guns arrested near Trump rally in Coachella, sheriff says

A man is in custody after deputies found guns in his car near the rally site of former President Donald Trump in Coachella, Calif., on Saturday, according to Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies.

The man was identified as Vem Miller, 49, of Las Vegas.

Sheriff’s deputies stopped Miller at an interior check-point in Coachella, near the rally, and found he was illegally in possession of a shotgun, a loaded handgun and a high-capacity magazine. He also had numerous passports and drivers licenses under different names and his SUV had fake plates, Sheriff Chad Bianco said at a Sunday news conference.
