If they just delay it long enough, it all becomes moot!

Reported here that she left the state today to seek help.

Surprised there's not a warrant out for her arrest.

Once again religion (and especially US Evangelical Christianity) rears it's ugly head and show it's corrosive effect on progress and reasonableness. The world as a whole would truly be better off without it.

Double grim. So much for pro life. Context for readers who are not aware, in this case an abortion of a terminal foetus makes a future viable life more likely, as carrying the foetus to term will probably make the mother infertile (when they want further children), and the foetus has a genetic abnormality largely incompatible with life (dependent on the penetrance of the condition).

I don't know what work/family/friend ties they have, but I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't want to return to the state.
I'm not even sure how it'd play out beyond presumably the state trying to make an example of both of them (likely denying bail), even with the court order and appeals.
I honestly can't say I wouldn't do the same though.

Weren't these fine folks from Texas the same folks that were very concerned about Obamacare creating Death Panels?
Look what we got here.... a whole bunch of judges deciding who gets healthcare or not. I guess you could call it a.... Death Panel?

The issue here is that the court rejected a 'good faith belief' defense and add in that the AG has said that he will prosecute over this. This means that doctors will not be willing to risk life in jail over this as even if they follow the law, they can be prosecuted, which is expensive, takes time out of their life and has severe punishment if found guilty (Which is a roll of the dice in most cases...)
I wonder how many women will die because of this. Heck, with this, the women who have an egg implant in the fallopian tubes can't be treated until they are dying.

I genuinely wonder when women will hit the point of "If this is going to kill me" or "If I'm going to go to jail for murder to save my own life" then "I may as well take some of these lawmakers with me".
Not condoning violence, but at some point with draconian laws it's inevitable.

I wonder what the OB/GYN and Obstetrics drain is going to be after this?
If I was a Doctor, I would do everything I could to leave the state as it is too dangerous to practice my specialty in medicine there.
