Best comment I've seen so far (in response to this article: www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2024/nov/06/election-trump-president-resistance-america)Hak_a_dalan 40 minutes ago 142 Guardian Pick "I know you’re scared and stressed. So am I.” Me too. But not half as much as I am angry. I am angry at Joe Biden for hanging on as long as he did, denying the Democratic Party a proper primary and denying their candidate a full run. I am angry at the Biden administration for spectacularly misjudging the American electorate, for failing to explain their economic strategy and for being utterly incapable of claiming credit for their policy successes. I am angry at Jill Biden for enabling her husband. I am angry at Biden’s inner circle for claiming that their man was up for four more years when it was obvious to everyone that he wasn’t. Their gaslighting is simply unforgiveable, shredding the Democratic Party of credibility in the eyes of many. I am angry at Merrick Garland for not pursuing Trump for his crimes sooner. I am angry at his timidity. I am angry at Mitch McConnell for not stopping all this at Trump’s impeachment in Jan. 2021. That craven, myopic partisan zealot had it within his power to end all this. I am angry at the Supreme Court for facilitating the ascendancy of a tyrant. I am angry at the media that continues to grade Trump on the most ridiculous of curves. I am angry at the American people for accepting Trump’s behaviours. I am angry at their failure to either understand the danger, or for the fact that they simply don’t seem to care. I am angry at the billionaires, and their craven avarice. I am angry. I am so fucking angry. But you know who I’m not angry at? Kamala Harris. She was dealt a difficult hand and she played it as well as anyone could have expected her to. Mr Reich says he still has faith in America. I fail to see how that is possible this morning. *fap*

Mate, you don’t need to tell us you’re a wanker.
We knew that already.

Apparently comes down to PA. Again. Looks like Trump will get Pennsylvania, but he wouldn't have needed it. Final score looks to be 312 to 226. Eight years ago today Cenk Uygur of the Young Turks called Hillary "the worst candidate in history." Heck, at least she managed 234 electoral votes and the popular vote. Kamala won't manage either. *fap*fap*fap*fap*fap*

Well, that sounds a bit harsh. I don't think it's either of those two women's fault. The electorate has chosen, but it has chosen poorly, both times. Hillary Clinton lost because her campaign refused to rally her voters in certain rust belt states and because of her baggage. Kamala Harris lost for multitude of reasons, but foremost she's simply one of the worst politician in recent memory (who hasn't won a single primary/caucus).

Let’s face it. Al Qaeda won. Big time. The gave the US a newfound sense of paranoia, and it’s never regained its senses, instead falling prey to racist, nationalistic diatribe designed solely to exploit those worries. lol.

I think jerking off over another member of the forum is a bannable offence?

I think jerking off over another member of the forum is a bannable offence? Up to Hordini, but generally if you ignore this one he goes away as soon as something happens that he would have to actually answer for on the Republican side. Or as soon as he gets no engagement. We'll see him again on inauguration day.

So, anyways.
How do Terms work if, for whatever reason, the VP takes over?
Let’s say that Biden had stepped down a year or two into his run. Harris would of course have been sworn in, becoming President for the remainder of that term.
Would that have made this election her second bite at the cherry, or the first?

Depends when in the term I think, isn't the tipping point at 2 years or something? If it happens in the first two it counts as a term, if it happens in the second 2 it doesn't? Can't quite recall, and I don't know if that's gone through the courts or not which given the current court...

That is it, if you serve more than 2 years you only get 1 more run.

If there's more than 2 years left in current term, the VP can only run for one more term. If there's less than 2 years left (counted by days if I'm not mistaken), the VP could run for two more terms. So, technically, if the timing works out, you can be President for nearly 10 years.

whembly Let's stop with the fap nonsense. If you feel compelled to celebrate the current state of affairs, you can at least be gracious about it.

Cool, thank you Curiosity sated. As for the result? I’m never gonna agree with Trump’s policies. Ever. But for those who voted for him? I hope you get what you believe you were promised. I really do. I’m the same way about Brexit. Nothing would make me more relaxed than knowing I Was Wrong, You Were Right. For those wanting the US “run like a business”, I hope it’s not run like a Trump business, that is straight into the ground, leaving unpaid and and now unemployed workers and contractors. I hope if he does do mass deportation of undocumented immigrants, that wasn’t short hand for “anyone a bit too brown or not quite Christian/wrong kind of Christian” for his tastes, and it doesn’t extend to you. I hope he is more than just a demented, deluded pig fucker with no interest or ability in doing the job he so desperately craves the power of. I hope your prices don’t shoot up because That’s How Tarrifs Work You Ignorant Wankstain. Times are tough enough, without some fake tanned lunatic fighting a nonsensical, unnecessary trade war China would win hands down. Hope he does restore the rust belt. I mean, he didn’t last time, so surely that’s top of his agenda now? Even above “fleece as much cash as I can from the treasury”. I hope I’m proved wrong. I really, genuinely do.
