whembly Let's stop with the fap nonsense. If you feel compelled to celebrate the current state of affairs, you can at least be gracious about it. I'll stop. But, very few here deserves grace.

I've suddenly started seeing a lot about a 4B movement on social media, which is something I'd already wondered about. If you were a woman in the US, and you know your partner voted to take away your rights, then why would you want to hang around?
Realistically, the only way to avoid dying in childbirth in a project 2025 USA is to not get pregnant, and without access to birth control, that means no sex. The only way to deal with not being able to divorce is to not marry.
So the 4B movement (the 4 "no's") means women removing themselves from the dating pool. Until men can treat women like humans, women will just avoid men entirely. Sadly, some of them will still end up pregnant.
I do wonder how long the MAGA movement would last with no new children being born, and men being universally shunned. Though I do fear that they'd probably just double down and mandate marriage or something equally handsmaid tale-ish.

Well, that sucked.
Everything Democrats had been thinking about the Electorate was proven wrong last night. I will say, that Democrats as a party in the US are on life support. They seem to have no natural constituency.
Dems were told:
1. Do things for Voters and they will reward you. The CHIPS Act and the Inflation Reduction Act created more jobs in Red States than Blue, yet won no voters. The ACA helps more Red voters than Blues, yet did not win any voters.
2. Large turn-out is good for Dems. Not true, because the increased turn-out was in rural Red areas. How and where Trump keeps digging up new Voters every election is beyond me, but he does it!
3. There was an enthusiasm gap. There was, but not in Harris' favor. Despite MAGA keeping a low profile, they showed up at the polls and beat Trump's usual ceiling of voters.
4. Demographics favor Dems. Nope, not at all.
5. Women will vote for Dems. Only if they are Black Women, and there were not enough White Women to off-set the young males.
6. Young people will vote for Dems. Also did not happen. Gen Z did not break for Dems, instead Young Men seemed to move the needle.
The only area Dems did well in was for College educated voters IF they were also urban. You can't win shit in the US with that as it isn't even a coalition.
Now, with that being said. I think I will be taking a long hiatus from the internet and politics for the foreseeable future. Sanity first!
Edit: One other interesting note, in Florida foks voted 57% in favor of removing abortion restrictions via Amendment. They needed 60% to win, which was always a huge stretch, as intended by the R legislature who passed the law raising the criteria for any amendment to pass. The interesting thing is that Rick Scott- R and Trump both won with less than 57%. So, who were the big brains who voted to protect abortion but also voted for the Republican candidates?

Sanity first! Democrats lost because of policies (progressivism) and historically bad candidate (Harris). Democrats believed that progressivism was still popular — and the traditional midterm backlash of 2018 convinced them that Trump had proven to be so unpopular, they could move as far to the left as they wanted, and the electorate would still always pick them over Trump and his MAGA candidates. They thought wrong. Progressivism, liberalism, woke-ism, statism — they will never be the same. They won’t wither away completely. But the Democrats just learned the hardest of hard lessons: The electorate — not just straight white males — doesn’t want their brand of deeply divisive identity politics, deliberate conflation of legal immigration and illegal immigration, policies that reflexively recommend and enact permanent bodily changes for teenagers questioning their gender identity, and basically the entire agenda of the 2019 Kamala Harris presidential campaign. In short - policies and the candidate matters.

funny, the deeply divisive identity politics and deliberate conflation of legal immigration and illegal immigration come from the Republicans, not the Democrats.
And Democrats don't reflexively recommend and enact permanent bodily changes to teens.
It's almost as if the entire opposition to Democrats is based 100% on lies...

Guys, we need Whembly here because he is the perfect personification of what is happening in US and Global politics right now!
He can't get a women so he takes it out on all of them in the voting booth by being a Fascist.
I wish I was joking. However, I live in deep Red Trump country. When I manage to talk to a male Trumper long enough, it always comes down to unresolved trauma and that trauma is often related to a divorce or bad break-ups. Sometimes, it is a job loss, death, health issue, moving away, etc. but 9 out of 10 times it is a divorce/bad break-up. Wyoming is the "Trumpiest" state and also has the highest instance of divorce. It is not a coincidence that the state is so Trump focused.

I love when R's who talk about Identity Politics and how bad it is. So close to getting it.... so very close.
However, it is safe to say that the Obama coalition is long gone, and the Dems have been unable to build a new National coalition. Urban and College-Educated is too small.

So where next for the Democrat Party? Hope the Trump 2.0 term is so bad the electorate come crawling back? Who's the pick for 2028? Does Harris deserve a second chance, or is it once you've lost your first attempt you're forever cursed?

Harris is probably done, perhaps Josh Shapiro. Newsom is from California, so a 'coastal elite'. Who knows, 4 years is a long time for a new person to appear.

But it's not four years, it's two, isn't it? The sheer length of a US presidential campaign means that planning starts really early, doesn't it.

Primary is early in the election year, it helps to get momentum going, but if you suddenly become really popular, it's possible.

If anything, I think this actually highlights how huge the cultural void between USA and Europe is, that's normally masked by a shared language and media. I've been holding them to a European standard but I think that's probably a failing on my part. Language aside, I can't actually think of a comparable culture.
