Also, on a side note: Guys, we need Whembly here because he is the perfect personification of what is happening in US and Global politics right now! He can't get a women so he takes it out on all of them in the voting booth by being a Fascist. I wish I was joking. However, I live in deep Red Trump country. When I manage to talk to a male Trumper long enough, it always comes down to unresolved trauma and that trauma is often related to a divorce or bad break-ups. Sometimes, it is a job loss, death, health issue, moving away, etc. but 9 out of 10 times it is a divorce/bad break-up. Wyoming is the "Trumpiest" state and also has the highest instance of divorce. It is not a coincidence that the state is so Trump focused.
How do you imagine this is a constructive comment in any way, shape or form beyond catharsis? Even if we assume everything you're saying is true, what's your point other than sniping at whembly? If this is all true then what do?

That "bi-partisan" border bill was absolute junk and it never even passed in the Senate that had bipartisan rejection. (most of the $$$ was going to go to Ukraine).
Remind me, which party was it that insisted on tying the money to Ukraine to the border bill in the first place?
Both parties if I recall.

Semi, cut him some slack, the poor guy is a visible democrat voter in a very red area and given the history of the red areas it's not unlikely he's going to have some form of retribution, hopefully just a social sort rather than any type of physical or financial.
But he has a long four years ahead. Give him a minute to vent against someone who only came back to write 'fap' 10 times and not engage constructively at all. He didn't do it to carlo, who does actually talk and engage. Just the fool.

Like that, you think people like that will keep their aggression in check now they have license not to because they won? You think that won't spill over into the real world? I'm honestly a little concerned for the guy, he doesn't need you policing his tone for him. Easy has been nothing but a sensible voice, and when he comes down from the panic and shock he'd look at that post and wish he didn't do it without you going after him on top of it

No. I imagine I'd be pretty pissed off in easy's position as well, I just genuinely do not get the point of the post. Maybe that's a me thing, I just genuinely do not get the point other than if it's catharsis (and if it is then fair). It might be that I think the comment was awfully close to judging people for not succeeding at forming relationships and if that wasn't the intention it's my bad.

If anything, I think this actually highlights how huge the cultural void between USA and Europe is, that's normally masked by a shared language and media. I've been holding them to a European standard but I think that's probably a failing on my part. Language aside, I can't actually think of a comparable culture. Absolutely this. 'Murrica.
From an European perspective, I don't think it's something to brag about. But maybe that's part of the divide.

Good. You're acknowledging that the US isn't Europe and Europe isn't like the US. It's not that we can't be friends, or our countries shouldn't collaborate on agreed issues. But the idea that we all have the same political wants/desires is farcical.

2008 Presidential Election John McCain Barack Obama 59,948,323 69,498,516
2012 Presidential Election Mitt Romney Barack Obama 60,933,504 65,915,795
2016 Presidential election Donald Trump Hillary Clinton 62,984,828 65,853,514
2020 Presidential Election Donald Trump Joe Biden 74,223,975 81,283,501
2024 Presidential Election Donald Trump Kamala Harris 71,880,307 67,030,608
The 2020 Presidential Election was an outlier due to COVID and mail-in voting, But Donald Trump gained about 9,000,000 votes compared to 2016 and only lost about 2,000,000 votes compared to 2020. Kamala Harris got about the same number of votes that Hillary Clinton did (gained 2,000,000), but lost 14,000,000 compared to Joe Biden in 2020.
This doesn't really appear to be low Dem turnout. It appears to be high Republican turnout in this particular election. Leaving the COVID-election in 2020 out of the picture, in the present cycle Republicans generally get votes in the low-60 millions and Democrats generally get in the mid-60 millions (leaving the result to the Electoral College).
In 2024 Trump hugely overperformed.

Trump is also on track to win the popular vote.
Ye gods that's a shellacking.

Also, I hope Thomas Matthew Cooks is burning in hell right now for missing that shot. We'd probably have president Harris right now if he had done his job and blown what's left of Trump's brains all over the audience like he so thoroughly deserved. The party of peace and tolerance everyone. How many republicans are driving around with "kill your local pedophile" signs on their trucks? Or does that not apply to pedophiles you agree with politically? I'll grant you this: at least you aren't pretending to be anything other than a useless hyper-partisan troll anymore.

My son's best friend died from accidental fentanyl overdose via excessive fentanyl-laced weed. The authorities found the dealer who got his supplies from the Mexican cartel. So rather than blame the party that opposes legalizing weed and removing the threat of contamination with other drugs you decided to double down on your existing political beliefs no matter how absurd a reach it is. Your son's best friend died as a direct result of republican policies and now you're their biggest cheerleader. I do wonder how long the MAGA movement would last with no new children being born, and men being universally shunned. Not long, but I think demographically it would be a catastrophe that very much favors MAGA. The religious right has enough women thoroughly indoctrinated into the cult, including the belief in having as many children as possible, that they'd have no shortage of babies. Meanwhile the people most likely to join the protest are the educated and successful women that lean left (and certainly not far right), making any drop in children felt most strongly by groups opposed to the cult. (Obviously that doesn't necessarily prevent women from doing it but as an anti-MAGA strategy it isn't very effective.)
