Mortars and artillery probably fit the bill, hard to improve much on a steel tube flinging explosives. Beyond some more advanced shells, there isn't much to it.

I suspect most of the developments there have been in metallurgy, recoil management, and carriage design to allow for lighter guns with the same range. Also rangefinding and fire control, but that ties in to intelligence and command and control capabilities.

True, a lot of technology around it has changed. Telecommunications tech, drones, satellites, etc. have really changed how artillery can be used. But the core product is similar enough, they're to an extent using WW2 pieces.

That would be my main question, even if the artillery functions (and has avoided metal fatigue, rusting etc.) is how accurate is it? Large part of the efficacy of modern artillery is how quickly it can be brought down directly on target, as it's no good if that AFV battalion has now moved a few hundred yards up the road. This was one of the areas that the US excelled in during WW2 I had read and helped a lot with their advance through Europe.
It's also worrying that things are getting desperate enough that museum pieces are being pressed into service... roll on the trained pilots in F16s!

A lot of it is related to logistics too- Russian artillery has been (thankfully) quite inaccurate in part due to a lack of replacement barrels for worn-out artillery tubes, plus challenges in changing these in the field. This is even worse for T54s pressed into the artillery role, where changing worn-out barrels requires lifting the turret off (and where indirect accuracy is very poor to start with).
